Because that teaching is not in the Bible, In fact if you read the Bible you will see that in many instances there, even Jesus himself says that not only is he God's Son but that the Father God is greater than he is, one scripture that comes to mind right now is the one that says that no-one knows the day or the hour of when the end will come, not the angels in heaven or even the Son, but only the Father knows this,(Matthew24:36) so if Jesus was truly God then he would know that, wouldn't you think, and then who's not reading the Bible?those who believe the Bible or those who believe teachings of men? No offence but you brought it up and you got the answer to your question from one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Peace I wish you! Please Look it up and see for yourself

Jehovah's Witnesses read and study the Bible more than any other religion. Ask any one of them and they will whip out a Bible (any version you please) and answer your question directly from the Bible.

Is Jesus God?

Well what does John 3:16 say? Does it say God came to earth or does it say he sent his son? Read it.

When Jesus prayed (as he often did) who was he praying to? (read Matthew 26:39)

Jesus was killed. Who raised him from the dead? (And by the way, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jesus is alive and well in heaven).

God is all-knowing. Is Jesus all knowing? The Bible says no at Matthew 24:36.

I could easily quote a hundred scriptures proving that Jesus isn't God, but God's son. After all, that's what the Bible clearly teaches.

Jesus himself said that God the Father was greater than him (John 14:28). Jesus refers to God as the Father a lot in the Bible. Jesus even called God in John 14:28 "my Father". Why did Jesus do that? It's because God is the Father of Jesus just as God is our Father. In fact, the Bible says Christians are brothers of Christ (Matthew 25:44, 45) Clearly, it's not possible to become brothers of God. But we can be brothers of God's son Jesus, because we too can be children of God.

Jesus is necessary for our Salvation. But Jehovah is God (see Psalm 83:18; Isaiah 12:2, Isaiah 26:4 in the following Bibles for proof)

American Standard Version
King James Version (Authorized, 1611)

or

Exodus 3:15 in the following Bibles

Good News Bible (see footnote on Exodus 3:15)
American Standard Version
King James Authorized Version 1611
The New English Bible

(several others as well, but these are the only translations (other than the New World Translation) that I have at home.

Look...you ask for Jehovah's witnesses' answers & what do you get? a bunch of slandering liars. I'm a witness. I like to tell pple. to think of the Bible as ONE. There is really only one Bible. Sure there are differences, but the message is all the same. When we study with ppl., we let them use their own bible if they want. The only differences in ours is it has Jehovah God's name, it doesn't speak in Old English (Thee, thy, thou), & it only has books that were put into Bible canon (whether you want to just accpet it or research it...its up to you). Depending on your version, I can probably show you something. Look at the word "Lord" ANYWHERE in the Bible. Notice its in all CAPS. This is cuz censors & Satan uses his powers slyly-they took Jehovah's name out. Now look at Psalms 83:18. Again, depending on your version....it may still haave Jehova'hs name in that one scripture, but now in the new KJV's, they took it out all the way. The reason we don't say Jesus is God is because He never said it & the Bible never says it. The word "trinity" is not even in the Bible. Jesus said "The Father is greater than me." Pple. tried worshipping him back then & he didn't want them to. Priests/pple. will say that the ONE time he said 'if you have seen me you have seen the father" means Jesus=God. Not true. Jesus was firstborn of ALL creation & spent milleniums of time with his father, Jehovah. He was just saying that to see Him (Jesus) & the way he was...that's exactly how his Father Jehovah God is like. That's ONE scripture pple. base "Jesus=God" on. The WHOLE rest of the Bible clearly states that Jesus in God's Son, Jehovah is God Almighty, & the Holy Spirit is nothing more than God's active force or energy. It is not alive or Part of God. We don't believe Jesus is God, because we have read the bible.

The foot note in the NAB at John 1:1, states that the word 'God'(2) is a quality or an attribute and not an identity.

The question is not what I believe or you believe John said at John 1:1,2 but what did John say.

In English and Greek you can not literally be the person, whom you are with.

You can be like that person, but you can not be that person.

John 1:3, Jesus is the channel thru whom God created all things. (Strong's 1223) a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act

'The letter came by messenger' doesn't mean the messenger wrote the letter, but was the channel that the letter came by.

vs 14: a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father;

Jesus' glory is that of a son, not a God.
when was Jesus begotten / created? (begotten means created, look it up in a English dictionary)

Col 1:5, Rev 3:14, Jesus is the first creation. All other creation came thru him (John 1:3)

John the Baptist testified

vs 34 "And I have seen [it], and I have borne witness that this one is the Son of God.”

finally the apostle John makes it clear who God is.

Rev 1:6 and he made us to be a kingdom, priests to his God and Father—yes, to him be the glory and the might forever. Amen.

John himself recognizes that Jehovah is Jesus' God.

It is not a matter of twisting scripture, it is a matter of reading and believing what is being said.

Lastly if John's tesimony isn't good enough,

There is Jehovah himself at Jesus' baptism.

"This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved."

We have the testimony of 3 witnesses.

John, John the Baptist, and Jehovah Himself.

ok, my mother was an JW , my aunt and my cousins , my uncle was an elder. So I think I can answer this questions.

JW read the WHOLE KING JAMES BIBLE. NOT parts of it, nor to they have there own bible.

They believe in GOD, JESUS, and the HOLY SPRIT (Some call holy ghost). They just believe they are seperate beings, Not they are one person. Or one trinity.

Some Christians believe that God turned himself in to a human and became Jesus. JW's believe Jesus is a person all by himself.

I believe this also. That Jesus was a person all by himself. Because in the bible Jesus prays to his father. He also says to people 'in my father house" would he be praying to himself or talking about himself. ? I dont think so.

They DO read all of the Bible, even the long lists of genealogies! However, the person who insisted JWs use the King James version and don't have their own, is completely wrong. They only used the KJ until their leaders came out with their own New World Translation. This is their prefered version (because their leaders, who produced it, had the anointing of holy spirit, making Hebrew and Greek qualifications in ancient languages totally unnecessary.) It is their NWT that misleads them into thinking Jesus is not God. All verses showing the deity of Christ, and of the Holy Spirit, have been changed. When this is pointed out, they stick to their NWT because their leaders were guided by God to do that. When you show them the vast majority of translations that show the deity of Christ and the Holy Spirit, you find yourself in the "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink" situation. Tragic.

Jehovah Witnesses read all parts of the Bible. In order to twist God's Word that is a requirement. However, they have edited scriptures to agree with their teachings and included them in one of their Watchtower publications entitled:

The New World Translation Bible.

Several scriptures in their version of the Bible are in direct conflict with the original meanings conveyed in God's Word. That is why, when you meet with a Witness, their teachings all seem in agreement with God's Word, because they are reading from an "edited" version of scripture. Their Bible! For those who have little experience with the Bible, JW study can be very deceiving.

The next time a Witness visits your home, compare what they read from the New World Translation, with every other Christian translation of scripture. We are to study to show ourselves approved unto God...not believe what you're told by humans.

2 Timothy 2:15 states: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Be Blessed.

In addition:
The New World Translation is just a much easier Bible to read, because it's done in modern English, with no thee's and thou's. It says the same thing as your Bible, which is why we welcome people to use whatever version/translation they feel most comfortable with.

Also, the word Trinity is not in the Bible, any version or translation. It's a word that was made up later to try to justify the false belief in Jesus as God.

Jehovah's Witnesses are well-known as readers of the entire bible. It would be a mistake to suggest that there is any part of the bible they do not read or well understand. Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians; they teach that Christ was and is divine and of the same nature as God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Thanks again for an opportunity to share what the bible actually says about the distinct persons of Jesus Christ the Son and Jehovah God the Father!

Jehovah's Witness do not recognize the Holy Bible. They have there own version "The New World Translation." It's accuracy and reliability have never been proven as the Holy Bible has been over and over again.
