Try some ibuprofen...that will help with the swelling, if that doesn't help ya might wanna see if maybe it is infected.

Contact the place you got it pierced.
If you are experiencing pain, redness, and discharge, it seems to me like an infection, or an infection waiting to happen. Anything that's not part of a healthy healing process needs to be taken with concern. Whatever you do, don't touch it! To aleviate the pain, you could try ice, but just make sure to keep your fingers and anything dirty away from your new piercing. Stick to your cleaning routine, sometimes if you get an infection and keep up with your cleaning regimen it ends up going away eventually (I know from experience). I would honestly call or visit the place you got it pierced before anything else. They hold some liability and would probably be more than willing to help since keeping customer's happy is usually of great importance to them, and plus they're the experts (I hope). Anyways, cartilage infections can go horribly wrong, so don't ignore any gut feelings or problems. Good luck, and you know what, if worse comes to worse, take out your piercing. A bad infection isn't worth however much the piercing cost you. You can wait a couple months for the hole to grow over and get it re-done eventually. Don't sacrifice personal health for body art. I just got my eyebrow pierced and am dead scared of infection! Anyways, all the best.

Do the obvious and keep rinsing with the salts morning & night, also apply some tea tree oil on it befor bed and when you sleep be cautious not to lay on that side. It will get better, just don't neglect it again especially until it heals up. Do you have a barbell or ring through it? because rings tend to transfer dirt into a piercing more than a well fitted barbell.

Hi 3, That is terrible. Piercing some parts of your body is a lot more painful that getting a tattoo. I would go back to where you had the piercing done, and tell them the problems you are having. I bet they can help you. Sorry that you are in pain. A Friend

Well as much as you hate to hear it, i believe it is infected, despite it being new. with your ear being tender to the touch, there isnt another explanation for it. just continue cleaning it, don't touch with your fingers at all except during cleaning, and take more ibuprofen for the pain. all you can do is just wait for the infection to work its way out of the ear, but you must be careful, because if the infection works its way into your inner ear, it can get worse. you need to look out for ear infections and if the pain gets worse you might want to consult a doctor bc it could be hard to discern if its still just an infection from the piercing or if you have an ear infection.

it could just be normal...or i know you don't want to hear it might be getting infected, but i had my upper conch pierced and it was horribly infected in less than a week (even with cleaning). it got really bad, and i had to go to a doctor who said i was lucky that i came in when i did because it was so bad i could have lost part of my ear.
Cartilage doesn't have it's own blood supply so if it gets infected the blood can't flow like it's supposed to and begins to die. so if you're worried about it, call the studio you had it done in or go in and ask what they think.
better to be safe than sorry.
just pay attention to the swelling and to the temperature of your ear.
i've never done sea salt soaks, 4 ibuprofen and i'm good to go.

Its probally infected because..you might be allergic to the type of metal..therefore causing irritation which leads to infection unfortunately i went through this whole thing with my belly piercing. I had to take it out..someone suggested to me to get plastic earring non latex. I am afraid that you should really take it out if it hurts that much. Pain is always a sign of something bad... a nice hot compress will relieve the pain and if you have any kind of numbing spray that will help too..but i think you should take it out..its not gonna look cute all red and swollen

i have my rook pierced and it does hurt a little in the beggining. Just make sure you clean it more than once a day. I won't say it's affected because I don't know. If pus starts coming out any color but clear, have it checked. All I can say is take some Tylenol and clean it. Good luck!

So I have 15 piercings and very familar with pain from them :) Ice it that helps alot and H2o the spary feels weird spraying in your ear but really helps, also avoid sleeping on it. I notice my ears are very sore if I sleep on them. But Ice it alot. And its normal for it to bed red and throbbing..

Well for one, don't touch it. Keep your hands off of that area, it will only irritate it more. Secondly... perhaps you're experiancing an allergic reaction to the earing? Some people can't wear Silver or Gold. It comes with finding this out yourself. If the pain gets unbearable, I suggest just taking them out. If a pain killer isn't helping, why torchure yourself?
