Why can't some people accept the fact that they won't survive their death?

Death is only to the physical body. The soul is eternal and never ceases to exist. I can accept that.

You have a valid point, but the question is--what dies at the moment of death?--The corpse remains after ones death, the bones survive longer still; energy survives--it doesn't die, but changes the form, so at least some aspects of our being survive death--what do we choose to call these aspects matters not--a food for thought.
