My suggestion is to try 'All-in-One DVD Player PRO' which supports all popular video formats and offers detailed information about each movie file.

Buy the cheapest one you can find at Wal Mart or a similar chain. I collect DVD's that come from all regions and the cheapo players will play most regions without you having to change settings (which you can only do a limited number of times before the player locks into a region). DVD quality is simply DVD quality--doesn't matter if you pay $500.00 or $40.00 for the player.
