They are very safe. How long had it been since your teeth were cleaned? Do you floss every day? It may have irritated your gums and roots. For some people the only thing protecting the roots is calculus.Try Crest's line for sensitive teeth. If that doesn't work, contact your DDS office.

I can understand your concern, but I assure you that ultrasonic devices are very safe. They remove less tooth surface than traditional hand scalers, which helps to reduce sensitivity. There are many causes for tooth sensitivity, most of which can be resolved with the use of fluoride. Brush thoroughly and floss. Try Crest Sensitivity toothpaste, but instead of rinsing with water, just spit out the excess.

MAJOR TOOTH SENSITIVITY...My friend the reason why u are having major tooth sensitivity is not because u had ULTRASONIC DENTAL CLEANING but because(and i am being a bit straight forward to u) u didnt take care of the post-op instructions given by the dentist such as how to brush, when to brush, whether to use mouthwash or not....and maybe ur doing these things properly but ur diet specially if ur a smoker can easily disturb the balance and cause inf of ur gums resulting in sensitivity...and even if u dont have these problems then it maybe a possibility that ur sensitivity might be related to anyother disease of gums(e.g,u might b more susceptible to gum disease than others)......IF UR GETTING MY POINT THEN THERE MAYBE MANYYYYYYYYYYYY THINGS WHICH MIGHT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SENSITIVITY AND WHICH ARE IN NO WAY RELATED TO ULTRASONIC CLEANING.....INFACT ULTRASONIC TOOTH CLEANING IS ONE OF THE TREATMENTS TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS RATHER THAN CAUSING IT........
And again i will tell u something which might suprise u..after anysort of cleaning whether be it manual,ultra.et. for the first week or so u might feel veryyyy little sensitivity....because ur cleaning has removed anysort of plaque,calculus,tartar.etc. from tooth surface thus exposing the tooth surface to external environment and this just remains for first week or so but this is perfectly normal...ur tooth should be free of calculus and this is what treatments like ultrasonic do........and they are 100% SAFE...
AND IF U CONTINUE TO GET SENSITIVITY RATHER THAN BLAMING A TREATMENT GO TO SOMEONE WHO COULD CURE IT SUCH AS PERIODONTIST CAUSE IT MIGHT BE POSSIBLE THAT ITS DUE TO SOME OTHER REASON..UR TOOTH SENSITIVITY COULD ALSO BE RELATED TO CARIES(or cavity) that also causes tooth sensitivity

Ultrasonics are very safe. They don't Polk, scratch or harm the tooth in any other way. They just vibrate to break off the the hardened bacteria which is called calculus. The sensitivity you have is not because of that.
