i cant afford to live in a place without my mom cause i have to work and have my mom watch my child. but my older brother lives with us and i caught him smoking weed in his room. second hand smoke goes through the cracks of the door and through the vents. and i got furious cause my new born is in the room across from his. he said he wouldnt do it anymore but i caught him again! i would just leave but i cant afford to live anywhere else right now without my moms help. does anyone know where i can get some pictures of a baby effected by marijuana or some info to show him what he has done to her the last couple of days( we just got this place on the 19th so we have only lived with each other 2 days.) to make her stop or i will insist on him leaving or me and my daughter leaving to another relatives or something.

and also if you dont have an answer that answers my question and all you got to do is critisize me or make jokes, save your energy, grow up, and i dont mind reporting you at all

I agree with the lady above, let your brother know that he can get arrested not only for drug use and drug possession but endangering the life of a child. Let him know that you are no longer going to give warnings, that the next time he is caught you are going to call the cops and let them take care of him. That is what I would do you shouldn't have to put up with that and your daughter for sure shouldn't either she is an innocent young baby, tell him how would he feel if she had learning problems when she gets older because of his drug use. Seriously tear down on him and let him know that you are serious, worse comes to worse make that phone call to the police. Good luck and I hope he makes the right choice in quitting at least around your daughter

WOW HOW CAN SOMEONE SAY THAT SMOKING POT DURING PREGNANCY WOULDN'T HAVE ANY EFFECTS ON A BABY, WEED IS WORSE THAN SMOKING IT CONTAINS MORE HARMFUL CHEMICALS. AND YES IT DOES MATTER IF HE IS SMOKING IT IN THE HOUSE OR NOT BECAUSE THE SMOKE CAN GO THROUGH THE AIR DUCTS OF THE HOUSE AND THE BABY WOULD BE OPEN TO BREATHING THEM IN. READ UP ON SIDS ( SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME ) THEY SAY THAT THE LEADING CAUSE TO SIDS IS A MOTHER SMOKING DURING PREGNANCY AND/OR SMOKING AROUND A BABY ESPECIALLY AN INFANT. GOODNESS GRACIOUS PEOPLE DO SOME RESEARCH ON THE SUBJECT BEFORE YOU GIVE SUCH ANSWERS. SPEAK TO ANY DOCTOR THEY WILL TELL YOU THE SAME THING.

Institutes of Health define SIDS as the sudden death of an infant under 1 year old that cannot be explained even after an autopsy and a close investigation of the scene and the infant's history.
Although the exact cause of SIDS is unknown, research has helped doctors to understand what happens when a baby dies from SIDS.
We know that SIDS is different from suffocation and accidental death. A baby who suffocated on a pillow during sleep or whose parent accidentally rolled onto him did not die from SIDS.
When a baby dies of SIDS, low oxygen saturation and high carbon dioxide levels, acid build up in the blood, and heart dysfunction seem to be what causes the baby to die.
The big question in SIDS research is exactly why and how these issues occur and conspire in some babies to cause SIDS. Sleeping on fluffy bedding, belly sleeping, or exposure to tobacco smoke are all risk factors, but doctors aren't sure exactly what makes these risk factors cause SIDS.

^^this is my research from an online health site @~Lace~ and i can read pretty well, (yes i, a pregnant weed smoker for the 2nd time around (with a perfectly healthy soon-to-be 2 year old boy)), let me know where you see this passage mentioning "marijuana" exposure. I think that people fail to realize that marijuana and tobacco are NOT the same. One (tobacco) is deadly, while the other (marijuana) is not. Plain and simple. It doesn't hurt the mother or the baby.
Don't you think with the many tests the doctors run, they would see traces of "chemicals" in marijuana in your urine and immediately say something and begin legal actions??? i've peed in a cup at almost every appointment and smoked all pregnancy long and no one has said a word. hmmm... must not be too harmful. Oh and im currently 17 weeks 4 days with another healthy baby. Please do YOUR research or at least take advice from the MANY mothers who smoke marijuana during pregnancy with PERFECTLY HEALTHY BABIES. smh what more proof do you need?

well if he is smoking in the other room it really wont effect your baby at all. Weed doesnt kill brain cells that a bold faced lie anyabody who has researched the drug knows. You should ask your brother if he can chaulk the cracks between the rooms this would stop anysmoke from entering. Whatever you do don't call the police on your brother, this could really ruin his life. criminal records don't go away. I don't know what kind of relationship you and your brother have, but if you really love one another you should be able to come to an agreement.

No making fun. I can see how you're upset - I wouldn't want my kid exposed either. However, its not going to hurt your baby. Even if he blew it right into a baby's face it won't cause any damage. Even if you smoked it yourself while pregnant it wouldn't cause any damage (not that you would, but if it's not laced, it's not dangerous).
Regardless, he should respect your wishes and your baby's right to a safe and healthy life. It is illegal and could get your whole family in trouble, depending on what state you're in. Most importantly, your child should have a shot at lie without any types of chemicals, intoxicants, or drugs. Why risk altering the mind, even temporarily, of a child whose brain is still forming?
You should talk to your mom about how much this means to you, and hopefully she will find a way to stop him. If not, you can beg him again, ask him to blow it out the window, bake it into brownies, or buy an air purifier, or you can save up cash to move out ASAP. Unfortunately, you are not the homeowner and can't lay down the law that as a decent human being he should obey, but at least you can rest easy knowing that your baby's health will not be harmed, even if your house stinks.

I think u need to calm down and stop being so hysterical about this. Its not as tho he is blowing the smoke in the babies face, babies have to adjust to a lot of "contaminants" around them, fumes outside, in the air etc. As long as he is not doing it directly in the vicinity of the baby, i don't really see a major problem, u can't wrap them up in cotton wool all their lives, although I do understand why u are worried. Open windows, take the baby out for fresh air and ask him to smoke out the window, outside if he has to.

Marijuana depletes brain cells. I don't think that your daughter will have any physical abnormalities from it, but it certainly isn't good for her....for you....your mother, or your brother. I'd talk to your mom and see if she can help. If not, tell your brother you are going to call the authorities if he doesn't stop. That is his niece for crying out loud.....he needs help and hopefully he will get it...
