Very accurate...the Bible says he was "beyond recognition"

It is alot closer to the truth than movies that show a trickle of blood and a light whip.

I would say, very accurate. Except for the Catholic leanings towards the veneration of Mary. Mel Gibson of course is Catholic, so I understand that's why he "leaned" in that direction. I'm sorry he was pressured into taking out the subtitles when the crowd is yelling for Christ to be crucified and said "let His blood be on us, and on our children". That was a quote from the bible. I especially liked the actor who played Pilate. An interesting character in history, I think. I thought the violence in the movie was much too graphic, and went on for too long. For that reason, I haven't watched it more than twice since I saw it in the theater. By the way, when I came out from the theater, after watching it....I felt born again, again.

I've seen it once. I do not have any wish to see it again. And it followed along pretty well to the story that was told in the bible, but that does not mean that it is really what happened. The bible was written a long time after Jesus was dead. Stories get changed after being retold so many times.

Besides. Gratuitous violence doesn't really float my boat.

IT wasn't very accurate to basic biology. People have significantly less than 12 gallons of blood in them. Gibson was pouring Christ's blood out by the oil barrel load.

Pretty close - some artistic license but nothing that conflicted with scripture.
I could only watch it once - it was very emotional and I felt I had the experience. It was too hard to see Jesus treated like that - but it is the truth.

There is more evidence in the text of the bible that proves Jesus escaped death than we care to admit.

I saw it...Don't care to ever see it again. It had close to no plot, was full of violence and just downright disgusted me but seems to follow pretty close to the King James Version bible, of course there are hundreds of translations and versions of the bible to choose from.

I wonder if their going to be making a biblical story that involves god flooding the earth next. I can already picture the little babies being washed downstream and gored to death on jagged rocks. Hooray!

awful movie, just sick. Who cares if it was accurate to the Bible. The question is whether or not it was accurate to ACTUAL history, and the answer is NO.
