Technically an architect is an artist while the engineer is a technical specialist. Architects learn primarily of styles, engineers of how things works. They are a lot similar, but normally architects work on creating designs based around an esthetical objective and engineers in practical objectives. Thus an architect will design a museum and an engineer a bridge. Of course in some situations but work together (like skyscrapper building). About who wins more money usually depends in the region and projects they are working off. Good architects, being regarded as artists, gain incredible quantities of money for a single job. However the magnitude of many engineers' projects (especially if there is a developing economy) can make engineers win a similar quantity, and also they may be work in more projects per year than architects. Thus you must expect architects to have a greater income in Hollywood (building mansions for stars and the like) and engineers to have the upper hand in Pittsburgh (designing factories, etc)

An architect is usually more imaginative, and aesthetically knowledgeable. An engineer is (usually) more intellectual, and deals with facts, measurements, and calculations more. An architect designs buildings, houses, structures; an engineer deals with technology, machines, communications, and basically everything we take for granted.
As for making more money....a good architect can make much more than an engineer, but engineers usually have consistent salaries whereas if you are an incompetent architect you are pretty much out of luck.

while an architect designs and draws buildings; an engineer designs, draws, makes experiments, solves scientific problems and analyzes whatever the engineering subject is about. The only superiority of architects' from engineers is they are able to understand a two-dimensional drawing easier than engineers while most engineers are dealing with three-dimensinal drawings. it is expected that engineers make more money than architects, but, in fact, making money depends on how talented an engineer or an architect you are...
