I rarely ever drink, it's about four times a year that I do. However, whenever I do drink, my lower back starts to hurt, after only a few drinks. I don't even feel buzzed, by the time that I feel like my muscles in my lower back are burning. Funny enough, I always have a thought that if I ran around a bit, I'd feel better.
Anyway, is this a common occurance? Is there any way to remedy this strange problem?

I really doubt it's got anything to do with my kidneys. I'm 25, and drink only water or gatorade. Also, I eat at least two pieces of fruit a day. The muscle pain starts about halfway through my second drink, usually; too much strain on my kidneys is hard to believe.

It is hard on your kidney's apparently they can't handle it i would not drink at all unless you want kidney failure .

I had the same problem when I was a little younger than you are now. The pain would get so bad I would end up vomiting even after only 2 drinks.
Do you have this pain at any other times? Have you put it off as muscle pain? Is the pain directly in your lower back or is it more to one side? Is the pain constant or is it spasming pain?
In my case, the pain was localized in my left side and back. I found out that I had something called a UPJ obstruction, meaning the ureter going to my left kidney was too narrow. It took years to diagnose.
Mention it to your doctor. See if you need to do a Lasix test to measure urine output or a contrast to see if you have any sort of
blockage.

Try running around a bit, your body is telling you to for a reason. I have the weird back problem when I drink too, usually red wine (maybe excusively, I don't know). It's in the muscles in my back, not inside my body in the kidney area. If it's your kidneys that hurt you should see a doctor right away, even if you decide to never drink again. If it's a muscle thing, try looking it up on webmd and seeing a chiropractor when you have the time.

The kidneys filter out impurities and flush them to the bladder for expulsion. Drinking loads of water and Gatorade, which has electrolytes and sodium the body requires, are great and easily absorbed. Alcohol, however, actually causes dehydration along with being something your system is obviously not used to or happy with. If your going to drink then drink with water or something to help keep the fluid level higher then the concentration of alcohol. Good luck and don't ignore mother nature's warnings.

Depends how much you drink mate. I've been away with the lads and had major major sessions - and we've started to experience pain in lower back (around Kidney area) toward the end of the holiday. As soon as we stopped drinking and got home it stopped.

Not only does the alchol damage your kidney/liver after working with a guy who has back problems he finds smoking wacky to backy or alcholic beverages can cause him to as he likes to call it relax a bit to much causing you to strain it with insufficent muscular support so check your kidneys but if your somone who has problems lifting your prado handbag up the stairs it may also just be a case of to much drinking not enough thinking !

Alcohol can cause kidney damage, though typically it causes liver problems much more often than kidney damage. The way it can cause kidney pain after excessive alcohol is to cause the kidney to "over-work" in excreting all of the fluid included in the alcoholic beverages. Also, alcohol has effects in the ADH or "anti-diuretic hormone" area and can cause kidney pain there.

Here is an honest response. I don't get lower back aches when I drink but what I do get is poo cramps massively. Normally I would not think of this but your question reminded me. I do drink frequently and almost every time I drink it gives me massive diarrhea cramps. I am not sure if this is coincidence or if liquor can give you a one-up on your body.......... and furthermore I post this because what if we are ignoring our bodily responses that lets us know about an issue way ahead of time?

No, it is not a not a common occurrence. You are actually sick. Others are not and they don't get it. Don't take any alcohol in future and get yourself cured first in totality. Consult a HOMOEOPATH immediately. No other treatment is going to cure you because it will focus on your back only and not on you as a total person. And you are a total system and not only a back. Got it? How beautiful is this truth and equally beautiful is HOMOEOPATHY. Best of luck.
