It is terrible for young teens. It can put them in compromising situations

I don't think it's bad if the parents monitor it. There are certain safety settings that protect teens, and due to recent news about myspace there is a group of parents that will go through the under 16 profile and validate information to make sure people are saying who they are.... ALso myspace is how you present yourself, you post your own pictures add you own friends and its just like any other internet experience, you can be exposed to anything its just all in how it is monitored by the parents

No, I don't agree. If my child hurts someone by drop kicking them I don't blame T.V. I blame myself . In these times teens/kids don't have the freedom we had. They can't go outside and hang out unattended the way we did. All they have left is the internet and that too is a very dangerous and strange place. Don't be closed minded to myspace or other sites for the reputation they have. Just be aware that things on these sites may be against your teachings and talk to your child. If you fail to talk to them at home they will find out somewhere else. What can happen on myspace can happen anywhere your child goes with out proper knowledge. It's not the site that hurts them, it's the people that use it. If you think keeping your child away from myspace will keep them from harm go to the site. Do a search for your next door neighbor or a teacher,cop,etc...You'll be surprised to find that trouble is right in your back yard.

myspace is what you make it. Just like the real world there are all types of people there and you can chose who you want to be bothered with and who you are better off staying away from.
You can find the wrong type of people there but there are many good people. There are a lot of people that are Christian, many are into UFO's, music, and a whole variety of things.
I was skeptical of myspace until my kids got me to get my own myspace and I am addicted. You can pretty much tell right off if a person's site is appropriate or not. As with all things for kids it is good to know what they are watching and doing.

If you want a good place to start myspace is
www.myspace.com/formyfourangels
and all my friends are my kids and good people.

14 is the minimum age for a myspace account. Assuming you're a parent, I'd insist that you are listed as one of his friends, and tell him that you will be checking what is on his account, without warning, on a regular basis. And then do it. There are many other things to worry about than location. Even just a name can be enough to track someone down - say he has an uncommon name, and has been in the local newspaper which has an online version... Name+age could easily allow someone to figure out what school he goes to.

As a teen i think that it is both good and bad... it can be very dangerous if you are not careful about the information that you share, it also can be dangerous if you approve random strangers to be your friends. There are also things about myspace that arent so negative, it is a great way to stay in contact with your friends, its i think a very fun site if you play it safe, young teens should always make their profile private, so only those who they approve of can see it, with all the creeps out there these days.

I think it depends on the maturity of the teen. I'm 14 and I feel it is perfectly safe. Then again, I also know what information not to give out and how to be safe. I keep my profile private and I'm only friends with people I know in person. For a teen who is irresponisble, it is very dangerous. If they give out their information to strangers, obviously they're under risk. It has nothing to do with Myspace, it has to do with the teen.

I suppose then you would have your answer it is all in what we believe. I know lots of young and older people with myspace but like anything it can be bad for younger people

MYSPACE is not bad, it all depends on how much information you give out and who you talk to. All you have to do is put your profile on PRIVATE and you're going to be straight. I'm a young teenager and have one and nothing has happened and nothing is going to happen because I know what is wrong and what is right.

I think myspace is terrible. Teens insist that they only have people who they know as their friends, but any one can look at their pages.
