Help, please. How can I solve the above problem? Though two apartments are separated by a wall, the floorboards run underneath. Thus, when my neighbors jump, my floorboards move; when they crank up their bass, my boards start dancing.

lay a nice thick area rug that should absorb some of the shock and filter a little noise but not much

I don't have the same problem, but I can sympathize. The wall seperating my apartment and my neighbors is made from ceiling tiles (I thought it was just a cool covering when I moved in.. it isn't covering anything!) and we share plumbing. So he sneezes, I hear it. He flushes the toilet, I get scalded in the shower. Its like having a room mate you don't have to talk to, isn't it?

There probably is not much that can be done outside of tearing up the floor and replacing it.
