if it feels good, do it. but then again it's all in what you believe. Leviticus 19:28 says "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord." Leviticus is from the Torah (old testament) that is Jewish law it has nothing to do with christianity. fundies only use and or quote Jewish law when it suits best the fight at hand. i mean how many christian out follow a Kosher diet or observe or celebrate any Jewish holy days? none.

Leviticus 19:28 says "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord." Having tattoos was a pagan practice and signified not that you followed in their ways and not God's.
Having a tattoo won't send you to hell but it's still not a good idea.

Christians believe that their bodies are a temple of the Lord, of the Holy Spirit.
If this is truly beleived and fully understood, then the follower of Christ would not have tattoos.
I think that it is giving in to a fad, and done thinking of yourself and not of God - a type of social "peer pressure."
My son served a two year mission in China and he has tattoos. One of his greatest regrets was having them and not being able to give a good explanation when asked about them. That should be enough alone, if we care about our witness, to not have them.

If the tattoo was done while the person was a sinner and came to know Jesus, the tattoos get forgiveness too.
PS Digital Haruspex: That scripture is out of context and was given to moses as how to prepare sacrament.

Just curious, how many of you saying it's ok to be tattooed claim to be Christian?
Anyway, according to the LORD himself:
Leviticus 19:28 (King James Version)
'Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.'
And no, I'm not a Christian but I do find it amusing when I know more about the Bible than they do. ;)
EDIT: Q & A Guy, actually it's not out of context, though you are partially correct in that he is speaking to Moses. The Laws being told to Moses, however, don't apply solely to Moses but to "all the children of the congregation of Israel." If you'll take note of Leviticus 19:2 you'll note that God says to Moses, "Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy." and then the Laws continue from there so, in fact, Leviticus 19:28 does apply.

from Revelation 19:16
And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
of course, this is describing the coming of christ.
I've heard a lot of Christians citing the Bible as saying the body is a temple and we should treat it as such. However, I think this leaves a lot up to you and your beliefs. If I was a temple, I'd want it to be designed how I wanted it. And the above passage may be stretching it for some, but if Christ himself has a body marking, why shouldn't we?

I guess that would depend on the content - each culture seems to have it's own idea as to whether or not a tattoo is okay - to me it should be personal preference.

there's nothing morally wrong with a tattoo. it's just that people usually associate tattoos with bad people. of course, if you get a tattoo of something satan-related or inappropriate, then it's bad. but just a tattoo is fine.
