I bought a 50" Plasma TV in the US (Panasonic). I would like to bring it back home. Before I ship it, I would like to know whether it would work in India? I know about the voltage difference. I would like to know the decoder that would (or may) be required to have a NTSC TV work in India (which has PAL).

No it will not work since the transmission in India is PAL and your set has the NTSC tuner built into it.

You can watch DVDs etc but not live programming. Also not sure which make/model you have but almost all flat panel TV's sold in the US have 100-240V with 50/60Hz so it should work in India (you need a flat pin to 3 pin adapter)

If you have not bought the TV I would suggest that you buy one that has both the NTSC/PAL tuners (a lot of Chinese/Taiwanese makes are available). Also A plasma is pretty heavy to transport and has to be crated so that it is always upright and cannot be tilted at any time.

Hope that was helpful. I have carried a Philips LCD TV to India with both NTSC/PAL and it is working great with Dish TV in Bangalore.

I think the NTSC factor comes into play with DVD and VHS players . And not TVs.
