When deciding which hairlength is best you should determine how best to flatter your face. Long hair with an oval face should have some soft layers cut into it, starting at chin level. Highlights around the face and crown can flatter at any length. A short or bob cut is not flattering if you have a soft or double chin. Also you can have some of the thickness of your hair tamed by cutting a bit into the thickest areas and creating movement. I suggest you find a hairstylist you really like, who has may years experience, and stick with that person. No matter what length hair should be clean, hydrated and as shiny as possible, with the ends regularly trimmed, because everyone's hair ends split eventually.

When I am thinking about cutting it, I just gather it up in back and then let it go a little at a time to see how different lengths will look. There are also websites you can use to upload your picture and try different hairstyles. Thick, wavy hair will look good in lots of lengths, but remember if you are going shorter it will get curlier when you take some of the weight off of it.
