I REALLY dislike vegetables...I just can't stomach them at all! The only thing I eat is a salad every now and then. How will this affect my health? Is it really bad to cut out an entire food group? I'm 23 and haven't touched veggies since I was 14 (the last time my mom forced me to eat them). Will eating more fruit make up for not eating veggies? Should I be taking vitamins or something?

Vegetables contain a lot of vitamins (B, C, A and D) and a few other minerals, but these can be obtained from other foods just as easy as vegetables. It doesnt matter where you get your nutrients, as long as you get them in your diet. But if youre worried about it, what about sneaking them in to other foods, like lettuce & pickles on your sub sandwich? Or you can try things like carrots & dip, cucumbers & salt, etc. Try things out and tamper with them.

I used to hate vegetables too, I mean, I wouldn't even eat a salad. I switched up my diet a lot though and only drink water, and now that I tried forcing myself to eat veggies and fruits, I find that I eat vegs all the time now and enjoy it. Spice them up with some low-fat dressings in a salad. While you can take vitamins to make up for the veggies you're not eating, I think it's best that your body breaks them down in their actual form. Fruits are great for you, but it's the greens that are really good for your body.

eating fruit would help but it is not healthy to cut out the entire food group.there are lots of veggies out there try thins you have never heard of and things you may have not liked as a kid you may like now, peoples tastes changed or it could have been they way they were cooked. most people over cook veggies. they should be firm and kind of crisp not mushy. but if all else fails fruit is part of that food group or get in more salads. there are so many things you can put in salads

You need to eat veggies or at least drink them like in V-8 juice or other juices. Yes you need a daily mulitvitamin and an antioxidant supplement that are well absorbed by your body. Try a putting common veggies in cheese sauce to make them tastier or cut them up very fine to put in your casseroles. Veggies are really tasty and as you get older your tastes change so give them a try again.

at the minimum you need to be taking a mulitvitamin. there are many other things like fiber and antioxidant protection that vegetables provide for optimum healthy.

there can be very serious health issues later in life caused by various nutrient deficiencies. many types of diseases are genetic and sometimes these recessive genes do not express themselves until later in life, sometimes from a lack of nutrients.

there will never be a medical cure for a lifetime of neglect to the human body. once the body is out of homeostasis it's almost like a snowball effect.

your health is your greatest asset, treasure it because once it's gone you can never get it back.

It is not good to not eat a whole food group. I did not eat enough protein for approximately 3 years and I was not so gently told by the doctor my body had suffered for it and I had to change my ways if I wanted to help my body. It is good that you are eating fruit, but you need to eat from all food groups. I found a website that might help. Its: www.mypyramid.gov

Haha.
Anyway, you can live healthier without vegetables than you can without meat. Just make sure you get enough vitamins and minerals and you'll be fine.

why won't you eat vegetables? they're all so different how can you not like any of them? try a variety of vegetables, presented in a variety of ways. you may find a sauce you like at a restaurant or something.
