Live for YOU. Go on vacation. Just make sure the boarding place is a good one. Your dogs should be fine if you get some R and R.

Of Course!! dogs are to enrich our lives not hold us back!! Most dogs do fine.

This was my answer to another question:

I have worked at two boarding kennels and both were run differently.

The first one charged by weight, if I remember correctly, it 20lbs> $13 per day, 21-40lbs = $14, 41-65lbs =$15, 65-85lbs =16, 85lbs and up = $17.

The second one charges by run type. An Indoor/outdoor run is $16 per day, and an indoor only is $14 (either option gets the same amount of outside exercize in fenced in yards 5 times a day)

Just get in your phone book and give different kennels a call. They should be happy to answer your questions. Make sure that they require vaccinations for AT LEAST Rabies, Distemper/Parvo/Leptospirosis, and Bordetella. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A TOUR OF THE FACILITY. It should be clean, have lots of shade, the dogs should be well fed and have plenty of water. There should be NO holes inthe fence. They should also be fairly clean (but keep in mind that they are in a kennel, and if they are in group play, they can get dirty quickly) Ask how often the sanitize. Ask who will have contact with your dog and how much attention it will recieve. Do they offer extra walks or one on one play? Will they provide food? Can you bring your own? Will either option cost more? What do they do in emergencies. What if your dog requires vet care? Is the facility heated and cooled? Are they given bedding? Can you provide your own toy or bedding? How many times will the dog get to go out and for how long? How do they handle difficult/aggressive/fearful or shy dogs, old dogs, sick dogs, puppies? What will they do if your dog does not eat? Do they offer group play? If so, how do they decide who gets to play? Is it supervised? How do they handle a fight? Will they give medications? If so do they have a maximum, daily limit? Will that cost extra? What do they do if a dog escapes?

I've been in the buissines and I know there and good kennels and bad ones. Trust your instincts and if something seems wrong, the it probably is. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I live in southwest Ohio.

It is ok to board an animal. I bought an 8 week old puppy on June 14 and on July 18 I went on vacation. I boarded her and there was no problems. Make sure to check out the kennel first. And make sure your dog had it's kennel cough vaccination cuz kennels won't board without it. And it's rabies shots too.

This is why it sucks to have any pets, I had the same problem.

Depends on the dog, you might be able to keep him at home and have a friend come by every day to take care of him and let him outside to take care of business.

But the easier solution besides staying home is to simply board him for a few days. Just be carefull when he comes back home you might want to give him a flea bath since I had this happen a few times when he came back home.

Take your pup with you!:) My dog goes with us on vacation! Just find a place that will let you have your pet with you - there are hotels and resorts that are pet friendly.
