You know when you get burnt, how does that cooling gel you put on work? Does it help lessen the damage thats been done? Or does it just make it feel better? I've been burnt way too many times on my nose so just tell me if the 'after sun' lessens the damage done by the sun.

No it does not lessen the damage to your skin. It merely feels good on the skin. You are putting yourself at great risk of skin cancer if you get burnt often or spend time in the sun without sunscreen on.
