I don't want to get key chains and T-shirts. Anyone who has been in Puerto Rico before can give me any good suggestions or ideas on getting good bargains as souvenirs for friends in US?

They have colorful bracelets that have printed Puerto Rico in them, they also sell ones with flags. You can also get them surf boards necklaces made from wood. Shot Glasses are also popular, as well as beach towels if they can be practical for your friends.

P.S check the souvenir store located in Ashford avenue in Condado, they have LOTS of stuff, it's one of the bests.

You can buy those fans that come in colors that ladies use for church or outside affairs. Puerto Ricans also make out of the coconut, little cups type souvenirs, you cannot really use them but they look good for display, is made out of a real coconut. deep into the island. I removed what I had written here, I hope you had read it already. What I was saying is really happening, but looking at the next person answer, it is not good to talk about my own country. What I will say is that their is unrest there, but maybe it just affects the Puerto RIcan and not the tourist since the tourist are the ones that are bringing the money in. Now I hope every one is happy. I am.

Hi cat's friend!!!

Everything that they told you is true!!! But for a good souvenir, for friends to enjoy!!!! Will be nice size post cards of the beautiful places, there are to visit!!!

Dominoes, and rum is good but they will get tired of playing and will end up the rum!!!

But the nice, big post cards they can actually display them, for everyone to enjoy!!! They do not take much space and who knows next time you plan to visit Puerto Rico again, you will be going with your friends!!!

Have fun!!!

GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS YOU & HAPPY LIFE

The best gift you can get your friends is "artesanias" of the coqui tree frog. "Artesanias" are hand-crafted work of art pieces. They are mostly sold on the streets, but you can find it in some stores as well. Why the coqui tree frog? Because you can only find them in Puerto Rico. ( I bet you already knew that) ;).

God bless you

You can buy puertorican arts and crafts, we call it "artesanias". Old San Juan has a lot of stores and street vendors that are certified artisans. You can find handmade work in steel, wood, ceramic and fabrics. Vases, dolls, jewelry and accesories, lots of items available. Other items are rum, cofee (Puertorican premium cofee is the one used in Vatican) local candies, hammocks, and other locally handmade items as soaps, aromathic candles, cigars and more.
