Is the (supposed) soul flammable? it is obvious this leads to questions about hell, so elaborate in that direction.

Dear Sir,

A friend forwarded me your request for information on the flammability of the human soul. Thank you for your inquiry. Information on that subject is as follows:
____________________________________________________
The human soul (X42359- Alpha) - chemical composition:

26.7% Hydrogen
22.3% Helium
51.0% Stupidity

____________________________________________________

Current data suggests that the human soul is, in fact, flammable. That said, we've had our top scientists (thanks for lending us Einstein) working on this one for quite some time, though I regret to say that Project: Inferno has not gone operational as of this date.

I'll take a crack at this question from the Kaballistic standpoint.

Short answer - no.

Long answer - flammabillity is a physical realm thing. The soul, while connected to us, is thusly not afflicted in quite the same way. There are parallels of course, but its not what you are thinking.

But more on your question relating to hell - the word for hell comes from the word "sheol" which is a real place. It was a large ditch on the outside of jerusalem where the people threw all their trash and decaying matter. So to be tossed in hell was to go to the trash heap.

There is no hell, that is a Xtian invention.

There is only Gehenna, which is distance from G-d. The maximum time you can stay there is 12 months, depending on what you did in this life. So a soul being flammable (which I don't believe it is, I believe it is indestructible) doesn't apply since hell doesn't exist.

The soul according to Bible definition is the person himself or the life that he is leading. Hell is not a place of firey torment and people are not conscious after death at all.

The soul can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, nor burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind. This individual soul is unbreakable and insoluble, and can be neither burned nor dried. He is everlasting, present everywhere, unchangeable, immovable, and eternally the same.

Can the soul ignite and be destroyed? Apparently not since the Bible describes people being there forever. I'm not sure if that's what you're asking though.
