You can contact the three major reporting agencies (Transunion, Experian, Equifax) and place a fraud alert statement on you reports. Anyone issuing you credit will have to contact you personally to make sure it is you before issuing credit.
Unfortunately, you cant force your mom to make the payments. I would contact the companies and tell them that you are a victim of identity theft. They will probably ask you if you know who did it. They may ask you to sign an "affidavit of fraud." I was a victim of identity theft. I knew who had done it. I told the credit card companies. They said they would investigate. They absolved me - but they didn't even pursue the person who had done it. So reporting it doesn't necessarily mean your mom would go to jail. We all make choices in this world. Sometimes they are the wrong choices and sometimes we must suffer the consequences. That is how we grow.

I know you're talking about your mom, but she has done something totally illegal and needs to be held responsbile for her actions by a court of law. I wouldn't be suprised if you couldn't take this to one of those TV judges and get them to rule in your favor. With a mom like this - you might want to be an orphan! You need to 1st - cut up all those cards and cancel them. Then you need to find a way to protect your identify so that she can't use it. Your bank should be able to help you set up an account to help you do this. For a time, I'd recommend just not using credit cards at all. You'll need to report your identfy theft and call the credit bureaus so your credit doesn't get ruined.

This is not good and perhaps you and mom could consolidate these bills and pay the$20.00 add up monthly on one bill and that should help some. Do not hate mom and help her stay out of jail. When you get your credit cards in the future use codes and do not let her know them. You can abbreviate your name or ask bank for other advice according to this situation and they will help you. Now and then for future update anything happens you can protest and show that it was not you and her continuation could get her in trouble.

I'm sorry but the only answer is to go to the police. She committed a felony, a huge theft. You can recover up to $5000. in small claims court. Cancel all of your credit cards and pay by check only.

Show proof that it was not you that applied for the credit, sign an affidavit and the creditor will take care of your mom. I respect your desire to not cause problems for her but face it, she has caused you a large headache. That is your only alternative. Your credit is shot til you fix this problem and it will take some time to fix. First, contact all credit bureaus and have a security feature added to prevent her from getting anymore credit under your name.

Get educated on credit.
knowledge is power
establish boundries just because she is your mom dosnt intitle her to ruin your credit and affect your life so negatively.
Read boundries by John macloud
You have been vilolated by someone u should be able to trust.
she should be ashamed. that hurts so deeply i know.
You have the right to be angry.
Do something protect your self and your future.
If you dont fight back and stand your boundries she will ruin your life.
You will not be able to get a car, house insurance at a decent rate.
Tell her ,
The problem is her and the credit grantors. Let them work it out.
They want their money and they will threaten her with the law.
Believe me she will wake up ans smell t he coffee. and She dosnt want to got to jail. She will make arrangements. Tough lessons for one so young.

You need to contact all 3 credit bureaus and your financial institutions. Here are some links to the 3 credit bureaus on how to handle identity theft:
http://www.transunion.com/corporate/personal/fraudIdentityTheft.page
https://www.econsumer.equifax.com/consumer/sitepage.ehtml?forward=elearning_credit15
http://www.experian.com/ask_max/fraud_identity_theft.html
You also need to pull your credit report and see what information is on there if you have not already done so:

Good Luck.

You mom IS a criminal. She is guilty of grand theft! And she is footing you with the bill - Fraud.
The good news is that if you report her to the police, you can get your credit cleaned up and maybe have a decent shot at life as a whole.
Take this seriously. She may have just screwed up your whole life for 10 thousand bucks...

In order to save yourself,
you must report your relative (mom) to the police, and to your credit agency, and to the credit card company.
Two credit bureaus - to tell them about your problem NOW:
http://www.transunion.com/
http://www.experian.com/
You must call all of these immediately.
Call your bank and have all of it investigated.
Please help yourself - and unfortunately your mother must pay for her problems to the authorities - start with the police.
sorry, soo very very sorry,
I hope this helps.
GOD bless us one and all, always.
