I agree, the price of homes is at least a decent investment, that is real estate generally holds its value or appreciates, vehicles in general are overpriced, I think labor costs are a large part of the problem, I recommend buying preowned due to the large loss of value that takes place as soon as you drive off the lot.

supply and demand is NOT a factor here. A car costs what it costs...the cost of the parts used to build it and the cost of labor to assemble it. If we stopped buying them, they would simply slow production, maybe even halt it completely. GM is barely making a profit off of the cars they are selling now, so don't think they're being greedy. It's the UAW that doesn't seem to understand the company isn't an endless money pit. So to answer your question, eliminate the UAW and the price of cars would go down considerably..

You have to be smart and talk the sales person down, if they want to sell it they will try to meet your demands. Do your research on interest rates, neighbor hoods, condition of the house, point out things you will have to repair. Don't seem to eager!! Don't just jump at the first deal. You can walk away if they won't cooperate. Another car or house will come along shortly. One that is right for you.

Get rid of the UAW. You can't sell anything cheap when the unions run the business and not the boss.
