Couldn't hurt. It should speed up healing, though I'm not sure how noticeable it will be. It might only take a few days to a week off the healing process so don't expect too much.

Calcium will help a bone to heal and Vitamin D (from sunshine) helps the body to utilize calcium. Many herbal preparations also help. If I were to break a bone I would use a combination with comphrey and boneset as a compress and also taken internally. Then, I would expect that the bone would heal well within about 2 weeks.

Not if the metabolism of the area is compromised (like in osteopenia or some osteoporosis). Calcium does not even help strengthen the bones if you do not load them to stimulate their growth (like lifting weights).

Absolutely - particularly good quality absorbable calcium, like that found in organic spinach or my favorite calcium supplements (they are not all alike):

Coral Calcium powder is awesome in food or as a soak or even as a body powder for rashes: http://www.mynsp.com/carole/products/guide.aspx?stockNum=1873
