how do you know if a cat is pregnat?

okay so about 2 weeks ago i took in a cat beacsue these people that live near me threw her out when she was 1. she was out for 6 months in the neighborhood. my mom says she thinks it pregnat . but i dont know ... pleasee help me on this onee

It's fairly easy to tell if a cat is pregnant. For one, her nipples will start expanding.

For two, you will notice that she will start getting fatter, which is an obvious sign of pregnancy.

If you can't see any signs, just give it a while, soon you'll be able to tell if your darling cat is pregnant or not.

If you look straight down at her back and she looks very round, that's one sign (but that could also be a bad case of worms). If you have a scale sensitive enough, if she's steadily gaining weight, that's a sign. So is eating like a horse. But a cat that wasn't fed regularly for awhile will also eat like a horse. It takes about 61-63 days from conception to birth for kittens. You can see fetal skeletons on x-ray after 45 days. You can wait 2 months and see if anything pops out, or you could have her spayed (if that's morally acceptable to you) even if she is pregnant. If you choose to spay her and she is pregnant, the anesthesia puts the unborn kittens to sleep too, so they wouldn't feel any pain. It sounds harsh, I know, but cats breed more than rabbits do. If she's been out awhile, it's more likely she is pregnant than she is not.

You wont know until she's at least a month into the pregnancy. Cats are only pregnant for 63-65 days.

The biggest clue I always saw (besides the obvious weight gain) was obvious changes in her nipples. Like all of a sudden you could really see them all the time.
