Is the color of their skin? Their height? A piece of paper?

Many Americans sponge off of the government, many legals do too. And if you are really sponging off, then you probably don't pay any taxes. Being an illegal is not a prequisite to do any of that.

Many legal immigrants also snuck in to the US, then applied for the documentation. They did not follow your laws to get here. Good point, but no cigar.

Actually, legal immigrants are more prone to mooch off of the government since they feel entitled. The biggest increase in the nationalization of immigrants happened right after the 1996 welfare reform. It happened because many would be denied benefits otherwise.

Legal immigrants are also prone to pretend to be illegal when convinient. And vice versa.

It is a known fact that illegals stand a much better chance of becoming legal by entering the country than by filing the paperwork. Much much better chance.

If Johnny did it = +, then Juan do it too. Yes, illegal immigration is a negative, but seems to be encouraged.

I noticed no one wanted to mention it. The illegals are brown skin.
Most of the legals are fair skin, educated and have the money to become legal.

The illegals are hated in Mexico by fair skin Mexicans. Here they are hated by white Americans.

Illegals are already doing hard labor. Do you know why people do not really want to work in meat packing plants. You have to do hard labor in below freezing conditions. Americans nor Mexicans want to do this work.

Their authorization within our immigration limits to be here and have children in our schools etc.

It doesn't matter how hard they work or how much they think they are as good as our own poor and working class, they are NOT our poor and working class, who we have agreed to subsidize in education and other benefits. We have limits on the number we are willing to give education to at the expense of our own children and the illegals are stealing the education that belongs to our own children, ruining their schools.

The 'document' is like a ticket on a plane. It represents space and food and bathroom tank capacity on the plane sufficient for that person and the others legally there. The illegals are stowaways cramming those who belong there aside and ruining conditions for all. In real life it is our schools and hospitals that are overcrowded and our children's education and our sick's health care being stolen.

And to a poster below, more of our LEGAL immigrants come from Mexico than from anywhere else, too, not just the illegals.

Well illegal would be - being here without having the legal documents to be here!

If you are working here and are not a US citizen - you should have a work visa. If you live here and you do not have a visa to be here - you're illegal.

Don't make this a race issue - its a legal one. Get the right papers or get out.

Seems pretty simple to me.

To your additional comments - do you really believe that you saying - "Well Johnny did it" makes it any less illegal. I understand the plight of Mexicans and their need to come here to work - I also understand that not all immigrants are criminals - but you have to understand that our system can't continue to support it. Tell ya what - pay taxes - fight for our country - speak our language = You're going to be very hard pressed finding anyone to sympathize with you when you're stealing jobs - refusing to speak to us where we can understand - and making us pay to support you and your families

A legal immigrant respects the country they want to go to and obeys their laws, even if it is difficult. They don't have to accept immigrants at all. An illegal immigrant takes the easy way out and just does what he/she wants. And brings plenty of excuses with them. I also think all potential immigrants should pay attention to what the citizens of their intended country wants, instead of helping their governments to abuse them. If only they could walk a mile in our shoes....

No I'd say your wording is wrong. A legal immigrant is just that legally here in our country. The other is, by federal law, an illegal alien.

You already know the answer to this question. And you are a real moron for asking it. If it were up to me, all illegals would have to do HARD labor for one year before they were returned to Mexico. And I mean HARD labor! Breaking up large rocks to form small ones for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. Then the law breaking idiots might get the message!

An Illegal has no green card or ID but a legal immigrant does.

Last September I attended a citizenship ceremony for several hundred new citizens here in Texas. I would estimate that fewer than five per-cent of the new citizens were white. As the mayor of our city announced the country of origin of the immigrants each group stood in turn. The new Americans were from countries from all continents. There were large numbers of orientals, East Indians, Pakistanis, Arabs, Africans, as well as those from central america, south america, and the caribean.
By far the largest group of immigrants was from Mexico.
Why not get your facts straight before you make ridiculous statements.

If you don't believe my observations I refer you to the U.S. census bureau:

http://www.census.gov/prod/2004pubs/p20-551.pdf

In March 2003, the civilian noninstitutionalized population in the United States included 33.5 million foreign born, representing 11.7 percent of the U.S. population.
Among the foreign born, 53.3 percent were born in Latin America, 25.0 percent in Asia, 13.7 percent in
Europe, and the remaining 8.0 percent in other regions of the world.
The foreign-born population from Central America (including Mexico) accounted for more than two-thirds
of the foreign born from Latin America and more than one-third of the total foreign born

LegaL= Someone who WAITED his/her turn, had background checks run (for criminal history), had medical check-ups ( for communicable diseases) and came here legally!!!

ILLEGAL= a person who sneaked into the country ILLEGALLY, NOT waitng his/her turn, could be/are murderers, drug dealers, child molesters, rapists, terrorists, could be/are carrying any number of deadly diseases!!!
You're right, too many legal citizens DO sponge off this country, but they key word here is LEGAL, which means that THEY,as legal citizens have EVERY right to those benefits!!!!! Whereas, ILLEGAL aliens....do NOT!!!!
ILLEGAL= CRIMINAL!!!
