Don't tell him anything & don't open the candy.

Take it, thank him and go home to throw it away.

Try to be nice and accept the candy. Atleast your neighbor is thoughtful and kind to do it. Like the others have stated just say thank you and toss it. Your neighbor could be a jerk like mine.

polite. say you feel kind of sick or something and will save it till you get home, then throw it. for the record, never eat anything if dust falls out- you don't know what that dust is

He is trying to be kind. I would accept the candy say thank you and put it in my pocket. Tell him you will have it after dinner. He is just trying to be kind and this is his way of doing it.

Tell him
Thank you for the offer sir, but my doctor said I'm not able to eat sweets anymore because I'm in the first stages of diabetes.

This should stop him pretty quickly, if he forgets, just say Thank you again, but my Dr won't allow it!

Just be nice. You are probably the bright spot in his day and he just look forward to seeing you, so just accept it and say thank you.

just accept it. where i come from, not accepting something is probably the worst thing you could do. it's considered rude.
