I got a receipt letter on 5th january 2007.My case is at california service center. According to the information on their website as 17th january 2007 , They are presently processing this date: january 1st,2005( For a gal resident processing for spouse /child under 21)

Could you please tell me how long it will take for it to be approved , and when i am going to hear from them again. My wife is heavily pregnant now (7 mths pregnant). I need more information on I-130

Well, if they are processing applications from two years ago, you can expect to wait about two years. I wish I could give you better news. Sorry.

I-130 could take a while...hopefully you submitted the entire package which is available on the USCIS website. The Work authorization, change of status stuff comes within four to six months. which isn't too bad considering a person isn't allowed to work until 90 days after it is received. as long as the adjustment of status is approved you should have nothing to worry about. the I-130 takes more time though, sometimes up to a year. The adjustment keeps her in the clear though....~~~~W

A legal permanent resident petitioning his wife takes 5 years unless the wife is in Mexico in which case it's just over 7 years.
