She has never been to a hairdressers in her life and always cuts her own hair.She won't let any1 touch and she always makes mistakes. Once she cut off about 7in by accident 'cos my dad opened the door while she was usin the scissors tryin to cut 1 in off. lol. Right now she is 5ft 11 in and her hair is down to her knees except for 1 side which i explained. she wants to have it shoulder length and is probably gonna do it on 2morro so plz be quick with the tips.

I would tell her to braid it. Then when she cuts the braid off, tell her to send her hair to locks of love. Then wish her luck on cutting straight. :)

Hi !!!
This sounds like a 911!!! When it comes to hair , it usually is!
Tell your sister that she should go at least this first time, so like that, the hair will be even!!!
I cut my hair all the time, but I know how to. And still some times I let the professionals do it!!!
Especially if the hair is so long. If she insist, tell her she needs barber sicsors,(real sharp ones), and the hair should be wet. This is, so the hair don't get split ends when cut!!!!
1- Comb it and brush it real good.
2- Hold it tight at the base with an elastic band.
3- You should help her, brushing the pony tail, on the back
it is very important to make sure the hair is as even as possible.
4- Hold the hair tight again this time, like about a little higher to the middle of her back.
5- Cut the hair straight about 1 inch, above from where is held,AT THE MIDDLE OF HER BACK!!!
Once the rest of the pony tail is cut, then ask her what is the lenth she wants her hair to be.
6- Always cut the hair straight about 1 inch LONGER, from the lenth she desires!!! ( this will give you room to fix, without cutting way to short).
7- Take out the band holding her hair, at the base of her head. Comb, holding always with your hand, as you comb.
Let her decide, at this point, if that is the lenth she desire.
If not , repeat the same procedure as before. Holding hith an elastic band and cutting 1 inch shotter.
I wish she visits the hair salon for the first time!!!! I hope my advise will help you both.

If she wants long layers, do the ponytail cut.
Wash and condition the hair. Put your head upsidedown and comb to the front of your head. Make a ponytail in the center of the forehead. Make sure it's tight! Make sure the hair is combed evenly around the head. Now take the ponytail and comb it straight up at a 90 degree angle from the head. Take your shears and cut straight across the entire ponytail approximately 4 inches or more above the rubber band. If you're unsure, make it 6 inches. You can always go back and cut it again if it's not short enough.
This gives you long, even layers without cutting off all your length. It's scarey at first, but you have to figure, the length of your hair in the back must go all the way up the back of the head and across the top before it even reaches the rubber band. So, you'll still have length. Cutting this way not only gives you layers, but your hair will have a nice U-curve from back to front.

if you are in Los angeles /orange county base area u can get a cut,style and tips for about $100 .The stylist(20 yr.experiance and licensed) comes to you and will save you from going to expensive salons. she is great does everything and actually tries to help you so u wont have to go back every time u need help. give her a call at 626-922-8194 ask for laura and make your appointment. about hair colors u should just call and ask to send you a price chart by mail. good luck sweety!

My tip is she should not do it herself. It will not come out even. Find a salon that specializes in long hair and have her go there.I know she wants it to her shoulders, but I still think she should go to a salon. There is no way she will be able to cut the back straight.

this will work if u help her while her hair is wet get a big comb with wide teeth if u can or a vent brush and tell her to lean over and comb or brush her hair all the way forward and take the scissors and just cut it all off at one time

She really should have it cut by someone who knows what they are doing at least for the first time. It will be easier for you to trim it later if it's at the length she wants to begin with.

in my opinion i would say go to a hair dresser or a hair salonist because for sure she'll mess it up especially when it comes to doing the back it will just not look right! :p
