It varies by person, since people have different heights and frame sizes. Also, people lose & gain weight in different areas - some people gain weight all over, others might carry their weight mostly around the belly.

That's an entirely individual thing. You might lose inches the butt , stomach or maybe the thighs. You can find where you lose is you measure yourself now and and then after you lost the ten pounds measure yourself again.

there is no way to determine that. 10 lbs on a person 5'0 is not the same as 10 lbs on another that is 6'0.
you also have to consider that when you see a decrease of 10 lbs on the scale, you don't know how much of that is water, how much was fat and how much was muscle.
this is the main reason why tracking body fat is the only way to tell the progress of a weight loss diet.
