There are statistics that claim that the Catholic priesthood is primarily made up of gay men; some experts estimate it to be between 40% and 80%. I have nothing against gay men, but why do they gravitate towards the priesthood?

For people who asked, according to the Washington post "Based on his 17 years in the priesthood, he estimates that 60 percent of the Diocese of Arlington's 127 diocesan priests are homosexuals, which is high compared with national estimates of 30 percent to 50 percent from other authorities on the priesthood."

I don't know the percentages but the fact that the Catholic priesthood is all male, mostly unmarried men makes it a magnet for homosexuals. And the rest is history.

The abandonment of sex for a "holy" purpose is more socially acceptable than the participation in acts of sodomy.
I do not believe your statistics but my explanation stands for many gay men who choose to join the priesthood. "If your hand offends you then cut it off" and all the extreme logic like that.......thank whoever that they chose to make vows of chastity instead of cutting off the offending appendage, except in the case of pedophiles that is.

you can't say that most catholic priests are gay , because it's impossible to know ... but in the end they are humans and not Gods , they can wrong or right , i'm not against being gay , but it's unbalanced state of mind and body ..
otherwise for who said that jesus was Gay , i don't think so ....... you can read the bible more and more

How else would they be allowed to worship their God? That way they can hide what they are by nature. The church would neither accept nor love them any other way. However, Not so sure I believe the statistics.

I guess you have seen statistics that I have not seen. I'm sure they are way too high. The ones that make the news are the ones that have "gone south" you don't hear much about the majority good ones.

Priest are not eunuchs and therefore should not be expected to act as such. There are probably other sexual activities that many of them engage in (with grown women) but it is not widely discussed as is the abuse to children.

It allows them to attend church without all of that messy persecution. Plus there's plenty of eye candy around. And they get to wear a dress.

Where did you get that estimate from because you are so wrong there is less than 2% world wide so get your facts straight
