Having once been a Roman Catholic, I am now non-denominational. Ask me what I am, I would reply a Christian, a follower of Christ. We can not put our faith in any man made institution, but in God alone. The doctrines and dogma of the various Christian denominations may lead you to Him, but our personal relationship with the living God should be the primary subject that our faith and hope. Draw close in prayer and reading of His word, and He will draw close to you. Ask, seek and knock. God has sealed those who believe with His Holy Spirit, who will guide and teach us. May God bless you on this journey.

My advice would be to get a Bible (I prefer the NIV or NLT versions) sit down read and Pray to Jesus for answers. I feel that God should be your guide, not other people and He will show you the way. You also need fellowship with other christians, but I would be careful not to put too much faith in other people or even churches.

You sound very mixed up. What are you looking for? Ask yourself "what did I like about the RC church?" "What didn't I like?" and make a list for each one like that. Then ask yourself "what is the deepest desire of my heart?" and take some time to think about the answer. Sleep on it a few days. Go to a RC church one week, an Episcopalian the next, a Methodist, An Orthodox, Lutheran on the next weeks. Listen to your heart. Where is God calling you to be?

ok 1st stay with the Bible, it is the only true source of truth, i highly suggest you go to a reagonal revival, if you live in the SE Winterfest is great, Feb 16-18, and don't feel bad because a lot of ppl change religon or demonation, but that does not mean you can't find salvation. If you are looking for something immedatly then you should probobly go to a church of christ. they are almost always a good choice. hope you find peace.

You're close to figuring it out. If god was real, wouldn't everyone see the truth of it and "worship" the same way (why would such a powerful being need us to "worship" him anyway? guess that's another question). But everyone has their own idea, and creates their own religion based on their own selfish reasons. The logical, reasonable thing is to reject phony beliefs in superstious nonsense, realize man invented god, and move on to a better life.

LEARN all you can about other religions before converting to them. You don't have to be a believer or devoted to a religion in order to learn about them, and you may find one that speaks to you.

Also, try this:

http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html

Take the quiz and give the answers that most closely match your current beliefs. It will tell you what religions or paths are most in tune with what you already believe, as well as ways to get more information on them.

Knowledge is always good - knowing about what you're getting into before you devote yourself to it is, IMHO, smarter than saying "I'm going to be THIS now" and diving in head-first, only to find that it's not what you thought it was and it's not spiritually fulfilling for you.

Have you considered that you might be looking to religion for the wrong reasons? Maybe its time to step back, pursue a personal spirituality, and gain some perspective. Then you can find a belief that suits you better.

You could study Islam. It (in essence) is a progression from Judaism-Christianity-Islam; a confirmation of past scriptures and a guide to all mankind. Islam is not how it is on tv. In fact, Islam is not even how it is practiced by the average Muslim. I personally can relate to the Sufism sect of Islam and while I don't like to categorize myself it is the one I like the most. Peace.
