Dear inquirer,
say this prayer:
"Dear God, I know that I'm a sinner, and I know that you love and care for me deeply. I believe that your son Jesus Christ died on the cross for me. Please forgive my sins and guide me in the right path. I love you with my whole life, my whole heart, my mind, body and soul. Please mold me into a new person so that I may love you as you love me, and love my neighbors as myself. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen."
After saying this, take a quite moment to reflect on who you are, what's good about you and what you need to change. Know this; you don't really put your "hope" in God. You trust in him, and hope comes as a second thought. But with God, you can't go wrong, so you can always put your trust in him no matter what. And just hope for the best. And make sure your church has an excellent program too. Very few churches are efficient in their teachings.
Lastly, read your Bible, especially the Book of Psalms. It'll teach you a lot about what you want to know. I know this is long, but I'm a young man trying to find God myself. As (so called) Christians, we have to pray everyday and encourage each other. Thank you for asking, and God bless.
PS: Take 1 step toward Him, and He takes 2 toward you. Soon, He will find you before find him.

I put my hope in God because I know he loves me and He is the one thing in my life I can count on. If there is no God, there is no point to life... and I know that life has a reaon.

as sasquatch's daughter,
most have to put their hope in something greater then them because they dont have much hope in the world or themselves. im not atheist and and cant blame anyone for having no faith in the world, but whatever you belive is up there has better things to do. your soul has been put in certian situations for certian reasons. most cant learn from others mistakes so they have to make them themselves.put hope in yourself tha you can learn from others mistakes and dont try to depend on anythingor anyone. you will have a much more fufilling life)

In what else or in whom else can I put my hope in? Drugs? Alcohol? Sex? Money, winning the lottery? Doctors, Scientists, the crumbling world that we live in?
My only hope is in God.

I guess it depends upon whether or not you believe that God is benevolent or not. Also whether or not he plays an active role in this world.

An interesting saying from the mideast takes a middle road and says, "Trust in Allah, but tie up your camel..."

The odds are better with God than they are in putting hopes in mankind.
