I dont think anyone has the guts to tell a fat person to stop eating to their face.. but we are all guilty of doing it behind their backs.

I agree with above. Neither one is okay. I would never approach a smoker unless they were smoking in an area full of children, and even then I would just remove my child if it was a reasonable option. On the other hand, I have asked people not to smoke right in the middle of playground equipment! Not to put it out, just to move over a little.

My guess is because smoke drifts along with air and affects more people than just the smoker. Eating really doesn't bother anyone else but the person doing the eating. Insurance rates don't go up because of other people---they're calculated specifically for you according to your age, lifestyle and other factors. Mine would likely be higher because of my long commute to work :( no fun shopping around for it either.

I think asking either one to stop is rude. I don't smoke, in fact it bothers my allergy's. I wouldn't ask anybody to stop just because it made me uncomfortable. . I would just move. As far as asking a fat person to stop eating a pizza I think that is rude too.

Second hand smoke can affect your health in a negative way. A person eating a pizza does not affect your health. While they both may affect your insurance premiums there is definitely a difference.

Secondhand smoke is harmful, while there's no such thing as 'secondhand pizza', unless you get so desperate you can't control yourself & start crawling around eating their crumbs. :-) But then it's still your problem controlling yourself and not an automatic thing, we can't hold our breath when there are smokers around.

Since when has it been encouraged to confront strangers and insist that they comply with your direction?!
It's inexcusably rude.
And, it doesn't matter if it's eating pizza, smoking a cigar, or wearing clothes you don't like.
If it's a legal activity, polite people keep criticism to themselves.

Someone who greases back on hamhocks doesn't affect anyone else except the hamhock back greaser. A person who smokes affects those around them.

you won't be harmed by the fat person eating pizza.
you could get cancer from the smoker's second hand smoke.
[that's the smelly cloud around the smoker]

I AGREE WITH YOU...
maybe because fat people are sensitive and will cry if you tell them they can't eat there pizza..and the smokers understand more..
