Ist wedding..how much of a monetary gift is required?

Give what you can, and nothing more. Anything is generous, and like the person above said they want you there!

The Hebrew character pronounced "hai" means "life" (as in the toast "L'hayim") and is the 18th in that alphabet. So for good luck, Jewish money gifts are generally a multiple of 18 -- $18, $36, $54 and so on.

Since you've already spent so much to get to their wedding, I doubt that anyone would expect you to pay a lot more. The main thing is that you showed up. So in your shoes, and since you're a couple, I'd give either $108 or $180.

Nothing is required. You have done a good deed simply by attending the wedding. If you feel moved to do so, the answer describing monetary gifts in multiples of 18 is a nice thought but please don't feel that they're expecting you to. I'm sure the couple is delighted that you were able to attend from out of country!

im not jewish, i would think that they invited you because they want you there, not for your money. Give what you can.
