been there a few years ago. in philly while family in california. here is the stuff I did. watch a good movie and relax. try your best to meet some really NICE people and schedule and evening together going to dinner or something. It will make you realize that while you miss your family, so do they but you all have nice company to be around at school so take advantage of it while you can. believe me, the family will be there when you are done, and you will kick yourself for not taking advantage of the opportunity that you had to meet new people. besides, while you are missing your family, they are asleep..haha. good luck and stay busy. it will pass. get out and get involved in organizations at school...no matter how corny they may seem. the idea is to meet some nice and interesting classmates. i wish you the best. by the time you are ready to graduate you will want to hang around there a semester longer and not want to leave...believe me. college is a great environment once you get past your stage.

Don't try to forget about it - embrace it - so many people think that they have to get their minds off things, when they should go ahead and feel it to the utmost extent. Read letters, type an email, look at photos and listen to songs that remind you of home. Make your family or friends a CD. Sit and write (with paper and pen) Write down a top ten list of things you want to do when you go home on holidays. Contact someone from home you haven't talked to in a while - get excited about something there. It's okay, you'll get through it and you'll feel better!

Im sorry to hear that, time is the only cure. You will get use to it one day. But for now, the only way is to call home if you can afford it, or email or write letter. Immerse your self into your studies reading books, doing the work in advance, make friends, etc. It will get better in time, my dear but for now cheer up. Your family miss you also

Did you bring some pictures of your home and family? Missing loved one and familiar surroundings is not all bad. Some people don't have anyone to miss. You could always make some nice cards or write them little notes to remind them that you are thinking of them and love them.

Well I'm not sure how to help you right this minute.

Join some clubs/sports/organizations to get connected to others and make friends. If you have a great support system of friends at school it will make it easier to deal with being away from home.

I like to read, or watch t.v. I'm almost a senior in college, and I get home sick too. It might help to work on a scrapbook or send them an ecard to let them know you're thinking of them.

well, u can talk to ur family memebers over the phone thats one option or u can just be with someone like ur friend maybe and u know just talk. being alone will do nothing, where as being with someone thats as close to u as ur family will make u feel better and make u think like ur closer to ur family
