I am going to try to eat almost all low-carb veggies for the next week, with the exception of maybe 1 drink of Light & Fit yogurt in a bottle (low sugar & fat-free). If I have to have carbs, I will have either 1 bowl of sugar-free, low-carb oatmeal or a max of 2 pieces of low-carb, whole grain bread in a day. I will also watch my food intake so I don't binge.

Do you think I will lose any weight in the next week doing this? What I have been doing is having too much carbs and sugar and too much food, period (though it was little fat; just too much bread, oatmeal & cereal).

Now, consider this--what if I make this change but do not exercise? Will I still lose weight? I do normal things like walking to and from my car and up or down a flight of stairs twice a day, but that's it.

I think I will still lose it b/c I will be cutting out excess carbs, which ultimately turn into sugar & then fat.

Carbohydrates are important to your body to function. While it is a good idea to cut out carbs such as white bread and really sugary cereal, it's not healthy to cut out one whole food group. And while you could lose weight, unless you plan on eating like that for the rest of your life, you probably won't keep it off. It's even less likely if you're only slightly overweight. Exercising will allow you to eat those foods in moderation and you'll feel AND look tons better. I used to hate exercise but now I couldn't imagine not doing it every day.

I always tell people that cutting out carbs is not the way to go. Your body does need carbs, believe it or not. Instead of going on a "diet" why not just try to eat healthier. I know it sounds like a bunch of bull but trust me. I've worked with a bunch of people close to me (I'm a health freak) and they didn't believe me..until they actually did it and it worked. Instead of eating white bread, go for 100% whole wheat. Eat oatmeal for breakfast, and yogurt for a snack. As long as what your eating is not filled with extra crap you don't need, you will be fine.
Make sure to eat lots of fruits and veggies too.
And you are right about the exercising. You NEED to find time to fit it in, its essential. Not just for losing weight, but to keep your heart and lungs healthy as well.
Good luck!
