Why don't you just put a note in the comments section saying that you appreciated everyone's input but that you wanted to pick a best answer so you could get your 3 points back and not leave the best answer unpicked for what could be many months or whatever comments you think would be best for the people who answered the question?

I got two best answers the other day from answers I gave 6 months ago. There was only one vote and I have no idea who the person who cast the vote was or why they picked my answer since a voted best answer doesn't have any comments to go with it.

I have two reasons why I let community vote: One, the same reason as yours, Two, I am not satisfied. I don't go for deletion. Answerers,especially a well thought answers, deserve result even I am not satisfied.

Yes if you really don't know if some were a waste like bad language not answer the question you can go in and give them a thumbs down so they don't get picked as readily
