I believe that some of you don't fully understand the proses of evolution so here is an easy to follow example of evolution in action....(clear throat)
Now....is the winter of our discontent...just kidding. Anyway!
You have an Island on one half of the island there are seeds and on the other insects. You let a bunch of birds free on the island. The bids, let's say, have 1 inch thick beaks. Now to be able to consume insects effectively one needs a 0.4 inch large beak (let's say) and to be able to consume seeds effectively one needs a 2 inch beak. Now we all know that nature isn't perfect and that some of these birds have 0.9 or 1.1 sized beaks. These birds (depending on which side of the island they're on) will be better equipped for survival meaning that these birds will mate with the equally effective survivers and therefore their offspring will poses the adapted beaks and so on and so on. So through survival of the fittest and natural selection, evolution occurs. Any questions?

Stop saying monkeys!!!
We derived from an ape! Not a gorilla not a chimp not an urangutan it was an Astrilopithicus I think. That's why monkeys/apes still exist. And to you Gary sure there are theores and speculations and not all the proof you need to prove evolutionism but then again there is almost absolute no proof in the creation story and "the almighty God" I personally think that human beings need religion to stay sane and without it there is "NO HOPE" Because religion gives us hope and a "clearer" picture of life and life after death but then to suddenly say that people just die.....yes just die and become part of the earth and once more reunited with the matter of the universe, then oh my gosh! What's the point to it all? And for all those soul/spirit believers: Why does brain damage have an effect on this soul? Can you get soul damage? How did Moses know anything about creation? And who was this women from the east? Are we all inbread?Either you believe in the WHOLE Bibl or not

What did you start with? A bird. What did you end up with? A bird.
Now, if you ended up with a bird that grew an arm with a hand outhis face instead of a beak, wouldn't that be better? We never see anything like that happen.
What I don't believe in is the notion that birds gave rise to a different kind of animal; or that they came from a different kind of animal.

Evolution is just a theory...but so are all religions...In evolution, darwin did what jesus and muhammad did. So what we need to do is, which theory makes more sense? Which theory has at least a bit of practical assesment or logic behind it? I would say is evolution. But i do believe in the hybrid theory, Like maybe God used evolution as a mechanism to do things. That is why humans took so many billions of years to form instead of a sudden 'pop'.
Evolution:
In evolution, lets say animal A is living in habitat A. Then over years mutation occurs. Then animal B, C and D with very slight difference from A forms. Some of these animals A,B,C and D migrates to habitat B. Through natural selection and survival of the fittest, only animal B survives there and the rest die of without reproducing. So after years and years of this happening, habitat A will be dominated by animal A cuz its fits that environment and diet and habit B will be dominated by animal B cuz it fits that environment and diet. Animal C and D gets extinct. This explanation can prove to us how humans and monkeys can co exist together. Monkeys thru multiple mutation over millions of years could have become humans, but not all monkeys become humans, like stated in the above example. So they co exist together.
Creationism:
God used a wand to summon adam and Eve. FULL STOP.
Which makes more sense to u?

I get tired myself of trying to simplify evolution so that it is understood by creationists. But the reality is, that they are creationists because they don't understand evolution. One is a matter of belief, the other a matter of understanding. That is why it is so difficult to convince them. You just can't do it. Not with a mountain of fossils, or finch beaks or chemical resistant locusts. Evidence is distorted, every small inconsistency is jumped upon as if it the nail in the coffin of evolution.
They believe that, by understanding and accepting evolution as reality, they are denying their belief in God. Nothing is further from the truth. The Church did not collapse when they accepted that the Earth orbited around the Sun.
Not that I'm going to stop trying of course.

I don't see how explaining survival of the fittest proves evolution to be true. Natural selection can happen without one species evolving into another.

I understand that, I'm a biology major. It's a matter of how things started and how things evolved from species to species.

that is not evolution, that is survival of the fittest, evolution means that one creature (Monkey) will evolve into man (man) if that was the case, why the hell are there still monkeys? when you get a bird to evolve into a man with wings, let me know will ya?

If you started from nothing there is nothing, agree? but if there is something that can turn into something that can turn into something else the beginning did not come from nothing. From the smallest light from the big boom within that light we(I) come to know that it comes from GOD. EX: if you was in a room with one door, where you are it may be nothing, but behind that door is another world. what you see is something from something, What we, God followers, see is nothing that God made into something. Come to the light to see what I see... God.
