Most SSRIs (Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro) can cause mild weight loss initially but have the potential of increasing carb cravings after sev month use (although it is not by any means a universal response).
Buspar is not an antidepressant, just antianxiety medication that does not affect wt and libido.
Serzone(nefazadone) is the only other antidepressant/antianxiety med that does not cause these side effects. It is rarely used now because of a very rare liver toxicity (something like 1 out of 1,000,000).

Both Celexa and its derivative, Lexapro, will tend to make you lose your appetite and lose weight. :) Of course your mileage may vary, depending on how well you stay on the meds. My experience with a combined Wellbutrin/Lexapro regime was *pronounced* weight loss, combined with a serious short-term (2 months or so) drop in libido, followed by some recovery of it (getting back to about 75% normal sexual function before I lost access to the meds). Just keep in mind that *both* meds lower your seizure threshhold and so if you have any problems being *twitchy*....stay away.
As far as meds that preserve libido, you can try some of the SNRIs like Trazadone or Serzone, but they come with serious side effects of their own, and drowsiness is a serious issue anyway. Not to mention poop-out at any time: I was on Serzone for three years, it worked *great* for the first 2 1/2 of those years, no sexual side effects, just dry mouth in the mornings and some slightly compromised tear gland function, also in the morning...
And then it *quit*, giving me nothing but side effects. :( Not good.
(and as for Zoloft.....I'd stay away. If your digestive tract has *any* issues at all whatsoever, that med will make your life a hell. Seriously. I've not seen one person *ever* get better on Zoloft, and I have seen a couple of guys need *diapers* months into the regime...)
Just saying....hope this helps. :)

from wikpedia "It is well known that the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) can cause various types of sexual dysfunction such as anorgasmia, erectile dysfunction, and diminished libido. Initial studies found that such side effects occur in less than 10% of patients, but those studies relied on unprompted reporting, so the frequency of such problems was underestimated. In more recent studies, doctors have specifically asked about sexual difficulties, and found that they are present in between 41%[3] and 83% of patients.[4] This dysfunction occasionally disappears spontaneously without stopping the SSRI, and in most cases resolves after discontinuance. In some cases, however, it does not; this is known as PSSD.
. . . Sexual dysfunction caused by SSRI's can sometimes be mitigated by several different drugs. These include bupropion, buspirone, methylphenidate, mirtazapine, amphetamine, pramipexole and ropinirole.
Because of these sexual side effects, the SSRI fluoxetine (Prozac) was recently classified as a reproductive and developmental toxin by the Center for the Evaluation of Risks to Human Reproduction (CERHR), an expert panel at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences at the National Institutes of Health.
-------------------------
I found that wellbutrin helps cut the libido killing effect of prozac somewhat. Wellbutrin by itself increases libido, in my opinion, versus taking nothing at all. zoloft, prozac and paxil are all SSRI medications, there may be others.
Instead of pills, why don't you try a light box? That is a super bright SAD light (seasonal affective disorder) that you use 1/2 to 1 hour a day, in the morning. If you tend to be down more in the winter, or on overcast days, this may be exactly what you need, and may be enough on its own, if your depression is mild to moderate.
cheaper than pills, no side effects, no risk!!!! Good luck!!

What is the most important information I should know about bupropion?
You should not take bupropion if you have seizures, an eating disorder, or if you have suddenly stopped using alcohol, seizure medication, or sedatives. If you take Wellbutrin for depression, do not also take Zyban to quit smoking.
Do not take bupropion if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine, and others.
Some young people have thoughts about suicide when first taking an antidepressant. Your doctor will need to check your progress at regular visits.
Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as unusual mood or behavior changes.

As with all medications, you may experience side effects when you take WELLBUTRIN XL. Side effects may be more common shortly after you start treatment. The most common side effects with WELLBUTRIN XL are weight loss, loss of appetite, dry mouth, skin rash, sweating, ringing in the ears, shakiness, stomach pain, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, trouble sleeping, muscle pain, nausea, fast heartbeat, sore throat, and urinating more often. Seizures may occur (studies showed an incidence of 1/1000 - 4/1000). The chances of having seizures increases with higher doses. Taking more than 450 mg/day increases the chance of serious side effects. If you have nausea, take WELLBUTRIN XL with food. If you have trouble sleeping, remember to take WELLBUTRIN XL in the morning. Do not change your dose or stop taking WELLBUTRIN XL without talking to your doctor.
