By the descriptors I would say a shiraz
Peppr, blackberry and spice.

Sounds like a Shiraz - rich, ripe, supple, peppery, licorice, blackberry, savoury. Could be a Syrah, too, depending.

My guess is either Shiraz or possibly a California Zinfandel.

That's quite a mix of flavours. It sounds like it might be a Zinfandel or combination of more than one wine.

I had a bottle of Rosemont vineyards "Hills of Mudgee" Shiraz that resembled your description. It was delicious.
