Culture determines the difference in God. If every religion in the world today said "My God is the Only God," and every one of them was right, think of how many Gods there are.
A great story was once shared with me. Think of God as a Giant Squid, each of it's tentacles attached to a different culture or area of the globe. Each tentacle represents a different religion or spirituality. Notice the similarity...they are all attached to the same big Giant Squid.
Every religion teaches the same basic thing: If you believe in God and are a good moral person, you are saved, enlightened or whatever. I believe that if you follow the teachings of your particular God, whomever that is, then you are on the path to your own righteousness. And to all the fundamentalists...remember, Jesus taught us to love our fellow man. He dined with sinners, washed the feet of whores and tax collectors, and never judged them. He allowed them to find their way on their own.

We think a like... there is no difference. We all have our own God that we pray to and that watches over us. Depending on where you grow up will have a lot to do with ones religious beliefs. Church was the government many years ago.
Look how many times the bible has been revised.
That voice in my head that tells me to take a right or left, that's my God. The fact that I know I will always be alright... someone is watching over me that's my God. When my heart tells me to give I know my God is working through me.
For the ones who say, " I have no God" I feel you do. Maybe you do not use the same term, but if you were about die ... wouldn't you say something like this, "oh God"..."Please help me God?"
Religion is good to a point . I do not agree with putting other religions down. My God, your God... there is no difference. Just different Church's trying to sell your soul and get that 10% for their cause.
People are either have a good heart or they do not. Those who do not, pay for it everyday... That is a higher power at work.

None at all. Universal truth HAS to be the same. It is just that religion has become institutionalised, dogmatic, sectarian and an immensely powerful tool in the hands of those who head these institutions. Afterall you can do anything - just about anything - by manipulating people's faith. Hence the need to underline the differences between your God and my God, the need to preach that only MY religion is the true religion. Afterall, if you are a believer, a follower and a practitioner, you will HAVE to follow an organised religion. Very few believers can live with vague precepts.

Perceptions of God change from denomination to denomination. The Calvinist's God is most definitely not the Arminian's God, is not the Pelagian's God, is not the Jews' God, is not the Muslim's God, is not the Native American's God, etc. Each major faith group gives Him different attributes, right down to the denominational level.

That depends. If you're a polytheist, there's a huge difference. I mean, Athena and Brigid are two very different deities.
That's what I believe, anyway. I don't go for the "all gods are one" theory. MY god is not the angry, vindictive, violent peeping Tom that the Christians believe in, anyway.

The weakest gods are the ones with believers who have to use fear to get people to believe in them.
Faith-based religion is the biggest obstacle to spiritual enlightenment ever invented by man.

I don't know about your God but my God gave his only begotten son that whosoever believed in him should not perish but have ever lasting life that's my God.
