If you have access to a gym... then squatting light weight with a lot of repetitions will work wonders. slowly build on weight and do as many squats as you can. If you have never done them before... make sure you are shown how because if you do them wrong you can easily injure yourself. If you don't have access to a gym... you can still do squats against the wall with no weight. you place your back against a wall and act like you're sitting in a chair. then step away from the wall and stand up straight then squat so your knee is right above your ankle in a 90 degree angle! I promise it works wonders!

Dead lift will work the leg muscles above the knee.
If you do this exercise remember to keep your back absolutely straight.
Do a Google search and you will find a page, that will show you how to do it.

When I developed knee problems, I started cycling. I developed strong quads and really developed my upper legs. And, I started a lifelong love of pedaling.

Squats are good, then as you get use to them, add weight to your upper body as you do them. Try to keep your back as straight as possible when doing them.
