I'm stuck between these two songs too. I was thinking about just playing both. One song just for me and my dad and the second invite others to dance with their fathers with us.

Considering everyone else's answers, this is a pretty popular song. If you are looking for something unique however, this isn't the ticket. You are most likely to get a response that isn't what you expect. Most people having already heard this song played over and over again on the radio will probably have the opposite opinion of what is playing in your head. I would try to go with something a little more unique to your relationship with your father. Don't be afraid to be unique and use a song that is an oldie, classical, new age, whatever your style is. Remember, its about you and your feelings not the impression it is going to make on your guests. If you are going to use a traditional song there are far more meaningful ones that I could suggest. Some Suggestions: What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong Beautiful In My Eyes- Joshua Kaddison Daddy's Hands- Holly Dunn Daddy's Little Girl-Al Martino A Song for My Daughter-Ray Allair Thats My Job-Conway Twitty Good luck!

That really is a hard decision to make. They're both very beautiful songs. especially for a Father-Daughter dance.
But i think i'd go with Heartland - I Loved her First.
I don't really have a reason why. But i just like it better for a wedding dance song.
Congratulations and Good Luck!!

I was going to go with Heartland until it became so common. I want something original. It's a very beautiful song, though. My daddy said we couldn't dance to the Tim McGraw song because of the line that said something about my fiance never being good enough. He adores my fiance. :) Good Luck and Best Wishes!

I say Heartland...perfect for a wedding, since they sing about a wedding. (Kind of funny...a few months ago when this song first came out, some friends and I decided that it was going to be THE father-daughter song...although I'm sure it's already been to that point for a while.)

Play both and dance with your dad twice...that is what I am planning to do because I can't decide either. Plus my dads a good dancer and I love him lots!!! GL deciding. But if I had to choose one of your choices I would say Heartland because it is newer and not over played...but it is YOUR choice so choose one or the other or BOTH!! Congrats!

heartland - i loved her first. i think is the most romantic of the two. dad will love it!
besides i think tim mcgraw is so-o-o overdone!

bridedana's answer is the perfect solution.........
but i still stick by heartland for you and your dad
and mcgraw for the second song.........if that doesn't suit all your guests and make your wedding memorable = nothing will.
good luck!

I chose Tim McGraw, My Little Girl, no doubt about it ~ if you really read the lyrics, I think it's so much more a father/daughter song.

[Verse 1:]
Gotta hold on easy as I let you go.
Gonna tell you how much I love you, though you think you already know.
I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.
You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born.

[Chorus:]
Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

[Verse 2:]
When you were in trouble that crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone.
Now look at you, I've turned around and you've almost grown.
Sometimes you're asleep I whisper "I Love You!" in the moonlight at your door.
As I walk away, I hear you say, "Daddy Love You More!".

[Chorus:]
Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

[Verse 3:]
Someday, some boy will come and ask me for your hand.
But I won't say "yes" to him unless I know, he's the half
that makes you whole, he has a poet's soul, and the heart of a man's man.
I know he'll say that he's in love.
But between you and me. He won't be good enough!

[Chorus:]
Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

My daughter was just married and she let her dad pick the song. Tim McGraw's was his pick. She said it was just like her dad was singing to her, and her alone. Very personal and how most dads feel, I am sure. You can't go wrong with either song.
