put them in a regular brown paper sack and close it tightly and check them everyday for softness. They will ripen much faster this way than just waiting for them to soften. Don't let them get too soft though. An over ripe avacado is just as bad as an under ripe one.

Ripen nearly ANYTHING quickly by leaving it in a plastic bag with an apple and banana and leaving in a fairly dark, warm place. The other fruit produces gasses that help ripen it. Darkness and warmth naturally encourage chemical changes (like ripening) to occur by producing the proper mollecular movement.

I hope you buy only hass avocados..they're just the best, others are watery. Make sure you remove that little nub from where it was picked and put 'em in a brown paper bag for a coupla' days or so. This is the only ripening trick I've ever heard.

The best way is to stick it in a brown paper bag with a banana or apple. It will take 1 - 2 days.

You can try to use the microwave if it's almost ripe. Go in 10 second intervals and check often. I don't really recommend it as the best way, though.

Put them in a brown paper bag, sealed in the dark - like a closet. They will be ripe in 24 hours!
