What digital camera, do you suggest that is not over $500 and has REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY good zoom and can take pictures for fast action!!! THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!

The problem with most point and shoot cameras is the shutter lag, which can cause you to miss pictures. If you're going to stick with a p&s, make sure it has a burst mode--it really helps with action shots. The other problem you'll run into is that hockey rinks don't have the greatest lighting conditions for taking pics with a p&s. A digital SLR is much better suited for shooting sports photos, but are expensive. You might want to search something like ebay to see if you can find a used dSLR and lens.

Sorry, but if you want to take action shots of a fast game like hockey, you're going to have to spend more than $500. In order to freeze the action, you need a shutter speed of 1/500th of a second or better, and for that, you'll need a lens that lets in lots of light, and you just can't get that with a cheap point and shoot camera, especially if you want to zoom in on the action as well. There's a reason why professional sports photographers spend a couple of grand on a camera body plus a few times that much for the lens.

Canon S3. It takes really nice pictures and its less than 500. Its no pocket camera so keep that in mind.
