I'm new to the BCP and the episcopal church. Are there any free resources on how to use the BCP to its fullest potential? Especially since I have no idea what a collect is... or a canticle... or how to use the daily office... thanks.

Why not seek out an Epsicopal minister face to face? I'm sure he/she would be more than happy to explain the background for you. A lot of episcopal churches have adult lessons on "why we do what we do" - the background behind a lot of traditions.Worship, at least in the Episcopal church is not meant to be done alone - it is done as part of a community.
