Those who have received, believe in and follow Jesus will be with God in heaven when they die. Those who have not will be eternally seprated from God.
The answers to all of these questions are in the bible. If you don't have one get one or borrow one from the library. Start with the book of John in the New Testament. I would suggest either the New American Standard Version, or the New King James version.
Here is what Jesus says:
John 14:1-6 Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that were I am there you may be also.
And you know the way where I am going.
Thomas said to Him, Lord we do not know where You are going how do we know the way?
Jesus said to Him
"I am the Way the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
OK - you have gotten some mixed messages here on yahoo!answers and from people who are giving you a "date 2012" for judgement day. Many of the people who ask questions here and answer questions here are into "Christian bashing", and mocking God.
All of the answers you are seeking are in scripture. If you are willing to invest your time into reading and studying it you will find the answers to your questions.
As to the time of Jesus' return and the time of judgement day, the main thing you need to know is, will you be ready? The way to be ready is to repent of sin (we are all sinners), ask God to forgive you, be ready to follow Jesus, by putting your faith in Him and receiving His payment for your sin.
"Now as to the times and epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night."
1 Thessalonians 5:1
"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone." Matthew 24:36
So you see, this is Jesus speaking here. There have been many people thoughout history who have said that they know when Jesus will return, but have been proved wrong.
God is real, Jesus is real, the Holy Spirit is real, they are three in one. If you want to know God ask Him to make Himself known to you.
"But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search from Him with all your heart and all your soul."
Deuteronomy 4:29
There will be a day when Jesus will return for believers:
"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the anchangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. "1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgement, so Christ aslo, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. Hebrews 9:27-28
There will be a time of reckoning, a day of judgment
Philippains 2:9-10 Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Remember this - God loves you so much He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin, God loves you and doesn't want you to be separated from Him:
2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."

No one really knows what will happen after you die. Different people believe different things. Also no knows when judgement day will be. I do know that if you read the Bible it will shed some light on those question for you and you be find out what you want to know and make up your own mind about all those question. But instead of worring about the after life worry about this life and make meaningful and help others, pray for guidence and understanding.

If you are one of the annointed ones who have been chosen to reign as kings and priests in heaven with the Christ, you would be resurrected the very instant you die and go directly to heaven to begin your new job. If, however, like most of us, you are one of the meek ones who will inherit the earth, you will remain asleep in death until the second resurrection begins after Armegeddon and then, the first will be last. The judgement day will last 1,000 years during the reign of Christ and you will be judged on what you do during that time. 2012 is speculation--nothing more.

I have worked with the dying for many years now all have said this is what happens in one form or another . Someone comes to get you or you feel your seeing others from the other side.
usually a few days before death if they have been sick awhile.
Then people who have died and come back state they go towards a wonderful light and want to become part of that light.
My husband when they had to stop his heart to do a repair said he was above his body and saw the doctors and nurses working on him Nurses in pink scrubs Dr in Green scrub blue scrub hat and the comments they made He started going towards a beautiful light when a voice spoke and said you must go back when he went back into his body he said he had the worst pain of his life. Before this he did not believe in God .Two great books One called Embraced by the light.by Eddy

Judgment day is when you account for all your unforgiven sins to God.

You die and you go to Heaven. How fast you go is supposed to be determined by your ability to learn the lessons you were sent here to learn.
God judges you for your love for him. Some denominations believe we all sleep until judgement day, others think it happens immediately at death.
Nostrodomas had no predictions past a certain date. I don't remember if it was 2012 or 2030.
Trust in God. I will pray for you!

None of us here have past away. But as the Bible says, "I know in whom I have believed and He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day." I am in God's hands. I know God and I know Jesus. I know the Bible is true. When men try to define what exactly each verse means that is when divisions happen and is why we have so many denominations today. Even if someone I deeply love dies, it may be that I don't know if they are in heaven. God knows. I can only be sure for myself. And I am sure that the bible is true whether I understand all the theology or not. That is enough for anyone to know with certainty.

Here is the deal concerning life and death, heaven an hell. People on earth are living their own judgment, meaning people determine where they will live after this life, by the deeds they do in this life. Dieing here on earth is bad, but that is not the end of it, people who go hell die again, one more reason not to go to hell. The fact is without being filled with Holy Ghost and being baptized in Jesus Name people will be lost anyway. Good deeds alone can not save anyone never has never will. Jesus Plan has to be followed to be saved!

Different people believe many different things.
I believe you go to Heaven (or Hell). The next guy believes you just vanish. The next believes you're re-incarnated, and born as another person. Still another will say that Elvis comes and dances on his head in front of you.
But stick with what I said ;-) You go to Heaven or Hell. Even it weren't true, you'll be much happier believing that until you can die and find out for yourself.

Jesus Christ spoke about the condition of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.” The disciples thought that Jesus meant that Lazarus was resting in sleep, recovering from an illness. They were wrong. Jesus explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a burning hell. He was not meeting angels or ancestors. Lazarus was not being reborn as another human. He was at rest in death, as though in a deep sleep without dreams. Other scriptures also compare death to sleep. For example, when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death, the Bible says that he “fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60) Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote about some in his day who had “fallen asleep” in death.
The Bible teaches that the dead “are conscious of nothing at all.” They are not alive and have no conscious existence anywhere. The account of Lazarus confirms this. Upon returning to life, did Lazarus thrill people with descriptions of heaven? Or did he terrify them with horrible tales about a burning hell? No. The Bible contains no such words from Lazarus. During the four days that he was dead, he had been “conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Lazarus had simply been sleeping in death. John 11:11.
The account of Lazarus also teaches us that the resurrection is a reality, not a mere myth. Jesus raised Lazarus in front of a crowd of eyewitnesses. Even the religious leaders, who hated Jesus, did not deny this miracle.
Think about this too: If Lazarus had been in heaven for those four days, would he not have said something about it? And if he had been in heaven, would Jesus have made him come back to earth from that wonderful place? Of course not!
Yet, many people say that we have a soul, and they say that the soul lives on after the body dies. They say that Lazarus’ soul was alive somewhere. But the Bible does not say that. It says that God made the first man Adam “a living soul.” Gen. 2:7, Adam was a soul. The Bible also says that when Adam sinned, he died. He became a “dead soul,” and he returned to the dust from which he had been made. The Bible also says that all Adam’s offspring inherited sin and death too.
The Scriptural teaching of the resurrection, however, is not compatible with the doctrine of the immortality of the soul. If an immortal soul survived death, no one would need to be resurrected, or brought back to life. Indeed, Martha expressed no thought about an immortal soul that was living on elsewhere after death. She did not believe that Lazarus had already gone to some spirit realm to continue his existence. On the contrary, she showed her faith in God’s purpose to reverse the effects of death. She said: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” (John 11:23, 24) Likewise, Lazarus himself related no experiences of some afterlife. There was nothing to report.
Clearly, according to the Bible, the soul dies and the remedy for death is the resurrection. You enjoy the best sleep ever, until Jesus resurrects you, sometime in the future.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!
