Approximatley 10months ago, while showering, i noticed a small pea size mass on the rim of my anus. There was no pain and did not cause any problems whatsoever. I ignored it and told myself that it would go away. While showering yesterday I noticed that it is still there and seems to be a bit swollen causing it to bulge out a little and feels a little soar. I work in the medical profession so I know that this kinda thing should not be ignored, but i just feel too shy to go to a doctor and ask him to look at my anus lol. Its not an STD because my anus plays no part in my sex life (Not Gay). If anybody has any advice or maybe even a possible diagnosis, it would definitley help put my mind at ease. thankyou
I am a 24 year old caucasion male with no significant past medical history. I take no medications and dont have a family history of cancer.

Sounds like a hemorrhoid to me. But (no pun intended) you need to have the doctor look at it. Trust me.....they have seen MUCH worse.

It sounds like an external hemorrhoid. Hemorroids are swollen veins. Preparation H works well. TUCKS pads work well. I wouldn't worry about it if there is no bleeding. If it bleeds, see a doctor. It's not serious but can get pretty painful. The doc can fix it in a jiffy.

While your embarassment level is understandable, the doctor looks at your body the way a mechanic looks at a car part...there something that needs fixin...so gitter done!

As for Alabama Girl's picture...that is a SEVERE thromobsed (clotted) hemorroid. Don't compare your possible mild case to that and dismiss the possibility that you have one.

Seriously dood...you work in the medical profession and your afraid of a doctor looking at your bunghole? Get real man...

Wow...listen dude, it's probably a hemorrhoid or maybe a benign cyst, cancer, if not it may be a genital wart. If you really worked in the medical profession you'd know that GW's can show up on your rim, even if you're not a flamo.
Man...

It could be serious it could just be a roid. I would call a doctor in a town next to you-give a fake name, pay with cash and never look back again! You might have to bite the bullet and just be embarrassed for a little bit. It will take care of your issue. Let some stress off of you. Plus doctors see all kinds of crazy issues-I don't think it'll phase them with your issue. It'd be more embarrassing if you were female going in there. It happens. Best of luck

Isnt "pea sized mass" sort of an oxy-moron maybe? Is it? I dont know. Im going to post that I think. Check the color of it. If it is brown or blackish you have what is known as "brown capping". Take that desperatley needed fat dump and go on with your healthy anus rim self James.

Yeah, definitely sounds like hemorrhoids to me. Go see a doctor before you use Preperation H or anything else, though...I saw an episode of South Park about this once, and your body could reject the hemorrhoid, LOL!

It doesn't sound like it's something to get freaked out about. But to ease your mind, why don't you go to an out of town Dr., if you're too embarrass to see one where you work, and get it checked out? If he tells you it's hemorrhoid, he would absolutely give you treatment options. If it's something more serious, thank God you caught it in its early stage--therefore it's way treatable. Bottom line: if you are concerned about it, go see the Dr.

Take charge!!!

Yes, it does sound like a hemorhoid. Yes, you should go to the Dr. Yes they have seen much worse things. If hemorhoids get too irritated or swollen, they start to bleed. You can get some really nasty infections with them too. If not kept under controll , you could wind up needing surgery to remove them. Think they're sore & tender now?.....Go to the Dr.
