If its been painful for a while your doctor may get you to have some tests done to see if it is a "frozen shoulder". This can be treated with a saline injection with great results. You may also be advised to take Glucosomine and Fish Oil tablets, which is also great for joint pain, good luck.

Use an Icy Hot patch. You can get it from walmart. It works for me. Tylenol or something along that line would be a great help with the patch.
