you have to check each location as they are all different. I joined my first gym at 13 but that was also back in 1981.

when I was co-owner of a gym in the mid 90's we had written regulations stating that 16 was the minimum age but we allowed kids younger than that to join if there were actually athletes. basically we didn't want people using our club as a means of babysitting their children.

your allowed to join a gym if your 16, just have your parents go in with you, if you go to the gym without your parents you just need a note from them, at least thats what my gym does.

You don't have to go to a gym to get exercise. But at curves if you join with your mom at the same time your allowed to go there.
