While installing oracle 9i it does not ask for username or password but when sqlplus.exe is runned it does ask for username, pass and host string. Kindly tell me from where in my computer can i get this information :-s...

i have locked Sys and System and gave password.
thats all wt i did..
now wt username shoud i give, i should gave the same password and host string -oracle9i ... kindly tell me wt username shud i give... :( every user name failed

Just something to add:
Host string is normally the database name, which is ORACLE_SID. However, you can modify tnsnames.ora by changing the TNS name, because that is what host string actually refering to.

There is no default database created, like MS SQL Server. In addition, Oracle 9i will certainly prompt for password for SYS, and SYSTEM if you chosen to install database during installation. If you didn't create database during installation, you can use Oracle wizard to create new databases

When you ran the installer, did you tell it to create your first database? If you didn't, there is no database created; therefore, no username and password. If you did create one, security manager will up and asks you to specify SYSTEM and INTERNAL account passwords at minimum.

particular expensive u can try this in oracle additionally. the main trouble-free way is to export the table that u desire to furnish on your chum to a record and then supply that exported record on your chum and ask him to import that record into his database. If want greater help ask returned, i'll assist u yet first study export and import in Oracle and attempt to do it. better of luck
